    Default Paul McCartney

Mr. McCartney turned 70 today (Ringo turned 72 last July). And those guys can still rock!

I never cared much for his music, and care much less about his politics. A wee bit full of himself IMO. Lennon on the other hand was brilliant.

Lennon has been dead these thirty years. Paul never did much for me either but I don't think the comparison is apt. Rick

That would depend on your perspective. Compared to McCartney I am young, by about 23 years to him.

Steve Mc, I agree with you about John. When they played Hey Jude on Ed Sullivan, they had already broken up. I have never listened to a pop radio station since then. That was the fall of '69 I think. Wings never did it for me, Ringo could occasionally do something, as could George. The one legged whore is what finally did me in.

Together the Beatles were amazing. Steve Jobs summed it up well - "The whole was greater than the sum of its parts".

I never really thought of McCartney as a "rocker", more of a pop guy. When I think of old rockers that are still going strong I think of Springsteen, Neil Young, Kim Mitchell... Guys who can hold their own either solo or with a full band behind them.
