    Default Beef...It's What's For Dinner.

I don't know what this stuff is, but if you've got a Costco near you, you owe yourself a taste of this steak.

They label it "Beef Loin, Top Sirloin, Boneless Cap Off Prime."

It's an inch and a half thick, and $8.99 a pound, and it's spectacular. More tender than the best Filet Mignon and with a gorgeous steak flavor.

We had it with tiny Yukon Gold tater chunks, pan-fried in onions and garlic.

The steak was rubbed with pepper and salt, and grilled to perfection.

The best bite of beef I've had in a long long time.

I was expecting more about the tick bites/allergy to beef thread.

Instead, I'm hungry (again). Thanks a lot, Donn!

    .

This is why Donn is Donn.

He cooked the taters and eats the Steak raw.

Glenn would cook the steak and eat the taters raw.

This is how we measure men and the amount of their mettle.

Thus Donn is the Man and Glenn , Well he is like me, We live in the shadow of the Great one..

    No shame in that.

Lets not get into how he eats eggs though.

Straight up like a Oyster shooter...

No Costco for a long ways. But there are a lot of stinkin' cows around here, ravaging the public lands.

Maybe I'll go shoot one and try it.

Rather have deer, though. Better taste.

It's obviously an import from a free range environment free of growth hormones, fat marbling and anti-biotics. (hint)

thx for the heads up, every once in awhile I'll get a dynamite steak from Trader Joes. Beernd, those aren't burnt potatoes, they're tasty. All kinds of good pan flavors come from crispy bits. Hell of a dish Donn. I'm sure there's a green vegetable somewhere on the table.

Actually, you can see a couple of remnants of the first pile of sorta-slaw, right in front of the steak. I had 2 servings of it. Green, white, red, brown and orange. Green cabbage, red cabbage, shredded kale, shredded spinach, slivered carrots, shredded celeriac, shredded jicima, shredded horseradish and toasted almonds...all in a thin mustard vinegar dressing.

If I ate THAT, I would have an outbreak of hives of unreal proportions. I love beef! I cooked 30 lbs of beef loin for a wedding yesterday, and don't think I didn't want to eat a little of it. Oh well. I made do with the 25 lbs of skewered/ grilled shrimp, marinated chicken breast, saute'd(?) mushrooms, string beans, red, white, & blue potatoes, chocolate covered strawberrys, peanut butter bon-bons, and fresh salad made from zuchini, squash, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and onion with scuppernong wine vinagrette....But I wanted the BEEF!

I don't recall what the research was saying about those with allergies, in terms of treatment. Maybe an antihistamine before the steak? (Keep an epi-pen on hand!)

I'm pretty much done with red meat, much as I love the flavor and taste. Too much stuff against it for my health and the impact on other things I like.
I can't say yet that I will never eat it again; I am not committed enough to feel that, but I am giving it a hell of a try! Having said that, the steaks look delicious!

I'm glad you enjoyed the steak, Donn.

I do not eat steak very often. 10 times a year, maybe. When I do I shop at either Whole Foods or Fresh Market. They both not only carry the occasional steaks designated as grain-fed, aged "prime" but also grass-fed beef.

    I have never been disappointed.

    Donn,

Looks delicious. Don't do Cosco... but you might have inspired the next bbq meal.
