    Default Gift from Co-Worker & Family - 1959 Peterborough 152 PAL - Where do I start?

I work at GM of Canada. I'm married to Donna for 28 years. I have a hobby - I repair, rebuild and restore older persimmon woods from the 1940's and 50's. A tool repairman (Mr. Korsmit) saw my work and he had a older Peterborough Pal boat in his back yard. He had a chat with his wife and the children and then offered it to me "with the intentions" that I would restore the boat to it's original condition. We received the boat yesterday. Our intentions are to "inclose a carport". Build a stand in the carport for the boat. Start to repair, rebuild and restore the boat to it's original condition. I live in St. Catharines, Ontario . Can anyone provide "the name of a book" or "share a little experience" with me on "where and how to start" this interesting project? Attached is a link to Photobucket which has some pictures of the cedar strip boat.

First things first... Now that you've unlocked your thread, we need to see some pictures of the boat to see a little bit of what needs to be done.....
There's a wealth of knowledge and information to tap here, and a few people who live near you, who might be able to come by to take a closer look, and give advice.....

I know where Peterborough is but I don't have clue what a Pal is. Others may be having trouble too.
There is no one source for repair techniques. It depends on what type of construction is involved and there are a lot of them. Next what is the level of degradation? Next what is your level of skill? How much time and money are available?

I had a mental block as to what "pesimmon" woods" were. If you are talking about old golf clubs it sounds like a nice, neat small-scale hobby. There isn't much of anything about bringing back old wood boats that is going to be all that tidy unless this Pal boat only needs a touch up.

The drill here is the more info you post the more and better help you can expect. Like what type of construction are we talking about? How big is it? Is it dried out, rotten, warped out of shape, etc.?
We await the details and pictures if you can do that.

It looks pretty good from the outside.
Do you have any pics of the inside?
The wee little ribs get soft if there's been water left sitting in the boat for any length of time.

R - I'll take some later and share. Is there such a thing as "wooden boat saw horses"?

If you picture regular saw horses with the legs extended up a bit, like football goal posts, you can suspend pieces of nylon webbing or strips of carpet between them.
If you want real boat luxury a couple of hammocks would do it.
    Do you know John Vanderperk?
He's a marine surveyor from St Catharines who worked at GM.
He surveyed a boat that I bought at NOTL YC in 2007.
