    Default Bronze canvas snaps

I'm going to have to redesign the cover for the Coquina. I'm thinking of using snaps to hold it to the deck or coaming.
Does anybody make bronze snaps? I checked JD and Hamilton and no luck.
all the ones I'm seeing are nickel plated. This won't look right with the bronze hardware on the boat.

At best you might find brass or brass plated stuff. I'm sure you won't find bronze just cuz I don't think it's produced commercially in the extremely thin sheet form used to stamp out such bits. And anything you might find will almost certainly have s.s. spring material, not that it would be visible of course. I'd start my search with the term "canvas supply" or some such rather than searching marine chandleries.

I did that search a few years ago. High and low, no luck. SS only. If you find any, let us know.

I don't think I've ever seen any. Most snaps here come from Dot Fasteners, and they're offered in plain brass, nickel-plated brass, stainless steel and black on brass for the military.

I recall seeing a cover someone had done (I think for a canoe) that used, instead of snaps, a flexible cable run through a sleeve around the outer edge of the fitted cover. There was some kind of cam lever or other tensioning device that snugged the cable through the sleeve to hold the cover beneath the outwale such that it could not be pulled up over the edge until the tension was released again. This always seemed to me to be a pretty spiffy way to hold a cover or spray skirt in place without having to use a bunch of flimsy snaps or turnbuttons, which you know are going to get smashed, broken off, or otherwised rendered inoperative over time.

Not snaps, just tie-down hooks. But bronze --
