    Default the government's $0.02 worth

I just got a check from the treasury for $0.02... no explaination
it's laying right here and causing me to wonder just what it cost tax payers to get this check to me and how much more it will cost if I actually cash or deposit it?

Frame it. It'll be a reminder of Bureaucrats in action.

Yes, it could be that. Or it could be merely a symptom of efficiency in action. My guess is an explanation would cost more than the check itself. Having someone examine each refund and make a determination regarding its worthiness would certainly cost more. By the way, if you are really interested in reducing waste, you had better cash the check in a timely manner. Otherwise they'll be compelled to send a couple agents out to your house to make sure you're okay.

It shouldn't cost you anything but the gas used and the time spent cashing it. I've received a lot of checks in the past; overpayments etc., the sender just hopes you don't cash it.

You could return it with instructions to apply the balance to pay down the national debt.

Here's hoping you drive to your local bank and cash it.

2nd best: Invest in a first class postage stamp to return the check to the U.S. Treasury.

I think the U.S. federal government has been monitoring your WBF posts and decided to taunt you.

Our government doesn't acknowledge any difference less than $2.00.

Dunno how it works in the States, but here, if you post a letter without a stamp or return address, the recipient has to pay the postage to get the letter.
