Default Housing info in Franklin Lakes, NJ, needed!

Well, it's official. Number 2 Son, whom was at Lefty's EBS three years ago, is spending the fall semester doing an internship in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Which is pretty pricey real estate. So, why not ask for help from Forumites? Jon and a roommate need to rent a room in the area; does anyone have any leads? (He's a great kid... much better behaved than his old man!)
    Let me know!

Very cool, Peter. When I was in 4th grade IBM moved a lot of people from NYC and Long Island to their new Franklin Lakes facility. My dad was an Office Products salesman at the time but they put him in charge of helping employees to find new houses. He traded in his Fiat convertible for an Oldsmobile, still a convertible, so he could drive people around and show them different towns and neighborhoods. I bet housing prices have gone up a bit since 1970.

My Boss in the oily 70s built a house there, Me and him or rather he was the Old wise carpenter and I the apprentice built 4 just the 2 of us..

As soon as one was finished it was sold and the next one started.

At that time the lots were out of touch..

Even then it was the most expensive place..

I have no idea how much money he can spend but Perhaps up towards Greenwood Lake or towards Clifton might be cheaper.

I do not remember seeing any rentals in Franklin Lake.

We have a job going in Franklin Lakes. Second phase is coming up soon.
Very pricey neighborhood! I'd suggest looking to rent something a bit away from there and commuting. They might find something a bit more affordable down around Paterson (NJ) or up around Suffern (NY) or Hillburn (NY). All three are within 15-20 minutes around rush hours.

My godparents live in Morristown. I'd offer their place, but they might have issues with that, seeing as they're still alive.... (Or were a couple of weeks ago.... I could check again if you'd like...)
What's he interning in?....... Something useful, like engineering, or law, or pre-Columbian ceramics I hope!.....

He is a Graphics Communications major at Clemson. He's also an Eagle Scout... thought I'd bring that up, in case somebody has a room!

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy What's "Graphics communications"?
My godparents are woodworkers/designers, but quite elderly at this point. Still very interesting, but not in any position to accommodate a couple of young men.... But they may know someone.

Graphic Communication majors run printing companies.

I'll give my godparents a shout and see if they have any ideas..... Too bad my grandfather's dead.... He was a graphic communicator who knew people all over the globe......

Your godparents got a room over the garage? They'll take it!!!! Trying to live as cheap as they can so they can save a little money for the next semester!

    Room over the garage........ No.
You think my shop is messy?.... Here's a picture of just a tiny little space in their shop where I could stand far enough away from something to get the camera to focus...

And their house is a mid-century modern (God I hate that term!) museum...
Beautiful, but not exactly functional as far as house guests are concerned..... But they've lived there for 90 years, so they might know someone.....

Today would probably be a good day for me to call them. I haven't talked to them in over a month.

Hey, these are graphics guys. If nothing else, they would probably love to meet craft people in the area. Just before he left for his summer job, Jon was walking us through items from his portfolio of work this semester. Lithography, Screen Printing, etc. The level of work was amazing. (Of course, Clemson's Graphic Communication department is in the top 2 in the country, so I don't know why I'm surprised.)
