There's a new through-hull on Wandering Star. She was hit on her mooring yesterday. The men who hit her were decent enough to cover the hole with duct tape, leave a note with contact info, even call the town to notify me. The boat is cedar strip over sawn llyp, edge nailed and glued. For now I plan a plywood patch. Both boats are insured, so hopefully the repair will be hired out. The yard is calling Charlie Balsalmo in Patchogue. Does anyone know other traveling wood boat repair guys? I think I'll call Roger too. If I end up repairing her myself, I planned to cut the strips back different lengths and replace about as original. Alternately I might use wider strips. Anyone done this before? or who can refer me to sources? Thanks.
