    Default WB School memories

Just finished reading this years catalog....

I enjoyed the times I've spent there and have particularly strong memories about working in the shops in the soft evening coolness and quiet after an afternoon spent on the water before dinner. Breakfast and looking forward to the new day was always exciting, too.

Have you got a special memory?

Dave, I'd say all of my memories about the class that I took were pretty special. I attended one class about 15 years ago with Larry Murray at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, and I just remember that I was as charged up and enthusiastic about it as anything I have ever done in my life. Obviously it wasn't for everyone. Seems like several people quit during the week (it was a full seven day thing) and a few didn't enjoy it the way I did, but there was a core group that stayed late every day, spent a lot of time cleaning the machines at the end of the day or sweeping up and doing general cleaning, and the last day we stayed and helped Larry load his truck up and really just didn't want to say goodbye just yet.

It was a wonderful experience and I would love to do it again. An unusual story about that trip is that once the school was over it was like there was this big vacuum and I came down off of that high pretty hard. I was laying in my bed at the motel I was staying in staring at the ceiling about 11pm and after awhile of doing that I said 'heck with this', rolled out, packed my stuff and drove straight home from Virginia. Crazy.

I can only imagine how special it would be to attend a class in Brooklin.

The view, when you just top the rise by the campground on the way to the boathouse. Don't see how anyone could ever get tired of that! Evenings at the waterfront. Sitting on the bench by the pond, hoping to get a glimpse of a moose feeding. Fresh blueberry pancakes for breakfast.
