This is a notification of a new event in the boating calendar for 2012.
Having organised a steam boat rally on Coniston Water for the last couple of years I was approached to see if I wanted to incorporate the dates into a an all encompassing 'regatta for the North', with it falling on the same weekend as the Beale Park Boatshow on the Thames.
It has been a little short notice organising it to say the least, but already it promises to be an interesting and entertaining few days.
Bank Ground Farm- the holiday home of Arthur Ransome, basis for Holly Howe in Swallows & Amazons- are to host the event, with large beach foreshore, quayside, jetty space, boat houses and hardstanding. It is also a very good value B&B and tea room.
Attending so far;
-Steamboat Association GB
-Electric Boat Association
-Windermere Steamboat Museum
-Good Wood Boat Company
-The Restored 'Swallow' as used in the film 'Swallows & Amazons' and replica Swallows 'encampment'
-National Trust's Steam Yacht Gondola
There is to be a parade of sail on the Tuesday, with a free evening cruise on SY Gondola (bring your own booze) from 5.30pm.
So, if you think you might want to exhibit, bring a boat or just want information as you would like to come and see what's going on, then send me a PM and I'l get back to you.
