Hello ..... just looking at the berkley engineers perfect 10'
I love the look ..... just wish it was bigger ... like a 16' or even 18'
Wondering? Could a person scale the plans up and make it bigger?
Thanks

Did you not go to their site?
Berk drew up a boat called the Candu-EZ that's 16 feet.

Well shucks folks ....
Im just kicking this around ...
The perfect 10 built to where the pilot house would be at least 6 foot.
I' ed want to be able to stand up.
Then fit the rest of the boat to it.
Doable? ??
I would like to think so.
Whats ya'lls opinions ..
Love to hear any kind of feedback.
In advance .... thanks for your reply.

The '10 is designed specifically for her size. The 16 is the only boat that will tolerate the scales you are talking about. You can build her as an outboard, just as you would with the 10. Though the boats are both flat hullforms, there's a substantial difference in their displacement and how they carry their cabin. Stretching the 10 to 16 is a recipe for disaster.

Good news ...my pop said if i build a boat ..he'll let me use his yamaha T9.9
that would be a good little motor for it.

D.C. The Candu-EZ
Mr. Peabody, you might enjoy this article, sounds like you and the author might have common goals:

You should post a list of all of the "tug" designs you've considered, then folks can add to it for you. Best wishes.
OR go look at the Glen-L Tug Along it comes in 16 or 18 foot versions and you don't have to figure out how to stretch or worry about it coming out wrong.

Thank you !!!! Enjoyed reading that ...thats basically what im after.. so i went to the plans order form...650 dollards? Wow.
I like the glen-l tug.
The berkeley perfect ten.
so far those are the ones that have caught me eye... i will try to call susie at berkeley and discuss with her.
although within the last hour ... re-reading berkeleys web page.. i found in the little bit section.
some ol' boy in australia used their plans and stretched her out to 13 foot.
Going to try to contact that person.
it would be wonderfull to scale the perfect ten up just a wee bit.
In my mind ... i would think? If a person just scaled everything up a little .. its the same product. Just bigger? ??
Am i thinking wrong here?
I had it in my head width on stock plans are 5.7 pilot house is something like. 5 foot.
Soo? Go 7.5 wide and ...??? What? 12 or 13 length. We'll just totally forget the 16 foot length.
I understand what you fine folks are saying. If i build it ...and if i go a little bigger ... i sure dont want to
Totally mess it up.
I cannot find any type of plans for a pusher type tug no where.
that is something else ive thought about.
In reality ... a pusher tug is basic barge with a motor. And pilot house.
But? I always go back to the perfect 10 .... it appeals to me.
Thanks guys.

I think you might be mistaken. Here are the free plans and build photos:
http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/08/.../tug/index.htm
You probably won't build this, but going over a variety of plans, sketching up some possibilities, and building things in your mind will help for whatever you finally wind up doing. Also, google can provide you with all sorts of examples.
Oh my .... how in the world do you guys finally settle on something to build.
Lol.
I think its half the fun dreaming about it.
well here we go again ... talking to my pop ..... he thinks i should use all this white oak i have.
But the only way i think? To use the oak is to strip plank it.
The ideal now? (Subject to change) lol.
use the berkeley bottom. Draw out my chine logs? Then set the ribs. Another chine on top to find my lines..
fare? It out. Then strip plank it with 1/2 x3 white oak planks.. if? It all worked out ...set the hull in my lake. See where i want the
pilot house ... ha. Sounds complicated ...but seems simple in my mind.
I know im all over the place with this ......so? For what its worth ...im trying.
Thanks folks.
