Default Project photos

Someone please refresh my memory and give me the directions for posting photos. I will post some of the 1926 Old Town canoe I have almost finished.
    Thanks

Put them on a web hosting site such as Photobucket. One image at a time, open it on the web hosting site full size, and copy the URL for that image. Usually a right click will do this but most sites have a button or something to give you the URL. It should look something like this http://webhostaddress/xxx.jpg

In your post here, click the little 'Insert Image' icon. Click the 'From URL' option. Wait till it stops messing around. Sometimes I have do this twice. Then past your copied URL where it says URL. Then, importantly, untick the box below 'Remove remote file and reference locally'. Then press ok.

If you can make sure your images are no more than 900 pixels in their large dimension.

I use a different photo host and find it very easy .Just for the fun of it here's a pictorial explanation of loading from Picturetrail .First join up..it's free.

    Click the Upload picture icon.

I use the "old uploader" ..click .

Your file directory will come up, find the photo you want to upload.

Double click on the photo .

I guess I need to stick with boats rather than computers. I still have not been able this photo thing out. Maybe I need a second grade person to help me.

Charlie: Peter Lenihan went through this same learning curve, and now look at him in "Just fore the fun of it" almost 4,000 replies later....and to think that he has done all of this with only 2 working neurons

So do not despair. The first thing to know is that you can not post the photo directly to the Forum, but rather you have to do so through a link. Have you set up your account with Photoucket, Picassa, Flickr, or the like?

We can go from there once you do, there are many here who will try to help you out...Send me a PM if you wish...

Photobucket is the easiest. With pictures uploaded there all you have to do is open a file (or just move the cursor to the thumbnail) and a drop-down will appear offering four options. Choose the last one by clicking on it and "copied" will appear briefly. Come back to your thread here and use the "paste" command in your post. You will see your file address preceded by . When posted or viewed in Preview you will see the picture.

Here's another easy way to do it.

    Upload your photos to Flickr.

    On Flickr:

    Left click on the photo.
Now right click on the new photo and select medium 500 or medium 600.
Right click on the medium photo and select copy.
Right click on your post and select paste.

    Works every time.

If you use Flickr selecting medium 500 or medium 640 will do that for you. It does for me anyway. I'm no computer wizard.

they don't get any bigger than that when you attach them, that's why you have to have them on a website like photobucket or flickr.
