    Default Large lathe

I (accidentally) picked up a large wood lathe at an auction a few months back. I bid on a drill press and did not know that it was coupled with a second lot that had the lathe.

I would like to know if there is any use for it in the wooden boat community. Its a unique tool built in-house at the paper mill that was being auctioned off and I would rather not scrap it. It has a 10' I-beam bed, a couple tool rests, and is belt driven by a ~7hp 3-phase motor. Personally I think the motor is a bit overkill, just one the mill had on hand when they built it.

Any info on possible usefulness would be great. I have pics if that would be helpful, I'd just need to resize them.

Pics would be good...if it can be unbolted from the I-beam it may have use as a spar lathe..

I was thinking spars for an Optimist.

I tried to upload a photo but as I resized it to not exceed the quota it told be that I was exceeding it by a greater amount. Anyone else have this problem?

Post it on a free image hosting site like Photoshop, then copy and paste the URL into here. The format is [url}http://www.classicmarine.co.uk/boatlists/images/elfyn2plan.jpg[/url} but using square[] brackets all the way through.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.
