Default Been asked to present the flag

Tomorrow we will bury our 19 year old soldier that was killed in a car wreck last Saturday. I've been planning on attending the funeral and have been getting my Class A uniform ready. The Funeral Honors team is short handed and have asked if I could present the flag to the family if needed.

I knew Misty as a soldier and she was a sweet girl and being as she was only 19 (my daughter's age) and a soldier of my unit it kind of hits close to home. I would consider it an honor to present the flag and I've told them to call me if the need me to.

It is never easy burying anyone, esp one that is so young with a bright future in front of them.

A great honor. It's nice to have the honor guard to unfold and refold it, with all the precision hand movement and the resulting incredibly tight fold that goes with it, but a presentation of the folded flag is very dignified and proper and means a lot to the family.

No parent should ever have to bury their child, you have a tough but honorable duty assignment. Good on you for accepting.

Indeed, good on you. Do it as perfectly as possible, they will remember every second of it.

Gulp. An honor you've earned and I'm glad you've accepted, Chad. I'm sure you'll do very well.

Yes it is an honor. I'm still not sure if they will need me to do this, but I will be ready if they do. There will be two flags presented and they are short handed.
