    Default Brockway Skiff

I am planning to build a Brockway Skiff such as the one that is built here: http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthre...ght=Greg+Stoll.

I am limited to a 10hp motor in the areas that I intend to take the boat. Would a 10hp motor be sufficient for a 16' Brockway, or should I go for a smaller build?

it won't be fast but it will do fine for getting you there. I would guess you will go about pontoon boat speed.

its a good boat, so i say go for it.

10 hp will do you just fine for most circumstances. I wouldn't try and come back in over the bar against an ebb tide.

Here's a minute long video of my past Brockway with a 15hp Honda: http://s156.photobucket.com/albums/t...enitch2010.mp4

And my Photobucket spread of the one I built: http://s156.photobucket.com/albums/t...%2016%20Skiff/

Good Luck with your build and please share with us your progress!

Some of the brockway types have more rocker (lady bird), and some seem to be designed with side panels cut so as to reduce the rocker (such as the old wharf lumber yard skiff plans). I think that the reduced rocker designs are made for 25-35hp, and perhaps the older more rockered designs are made with less HP in mind.
