The aricle said that modern wood materials have been around for twenty years. I beg to differ. Structural glued laminated timber has been around for nearly 125 years. 77 years in North America. Not much use in high rises but certainly many big structures have been built with it. 536 ft. clear span sports dome in Marquette, Michigan for example.
I have been aware of these ideas for wooden skyscrapers for several years. Not really sure they are feasible. But ya gotta keep thinking up new stuff.

Wooden skyscrapers will be limited to 6 stories in New York. Steel is infinitely recyclable and concrete is already being recycled in New York as aggregate for new concrete. I find the sustainability argument for wood in tall buildings far-fetched.
