Lightbulb Gypsy of the land and sea,is me!

I didn't know if I am doing this "right" however I really wanted to get some words down and write about my memories and things I like/love/know about wooden boats..houseboats..and all that.
All this has been triggered off by reading the blog here "Following the Pied Piper"....taking in Graeme's words..looking at his photos has rekindled my love of the sea and older boats..
I live across the road from the whalf here in Thames NZ..I can see the masts of the boats up on the hard..I go over there in my wheelchair and I breathe in the sea /fuel/paint smells and I am back as a small child with my father in the heat of the sun,our boat in a cradle up the creek behind the Meadowbank railway...I loved the look of the keel all rubbed down, the smell od the salt sea in the sun amongst the mangroves..it was my safe place..the only safe place.
On sunday I googled "Vagrant" boat from Auckland NZ..and up came the repair shop and many photos of her...
I can't express how it feels..however I suspect many of you will know anyhow..
now I need to save this and see if I can work out how to get my photos of the Vagrant on here..

Welcome and welcome! So, this is the Mullet boat you mentioned on Graeme's thread? It looks like a most interesting boat! Glad to hear that you can still enjoy a bit of the salty life where you are - thanks for posting these nice shots! I'm sure I speak for many in suggesting that any information you can post about this and other Godzone craft would be very, very welcome!

What could be more wonderful than smiling young mariners off on an adventure.
Did any of them continue a life in boats?

Great news,,,I have "found" the present owner of my father's old boat the "Vagrant"....I am about to phone him and have a chat..will keep you posted..
things have been a bit haywire here and life/living has got in the way of my wooden/old boats dreams..I did however go in my w/chair over to the whalf and fill my ears/lungs/eyes with all that talks to me of boats/fish yesterday..was great.
Hope everyone had a great easter..xxxxx
