    Amazing.

Look at that Colt. Even someone who's not big into handguns, like I, can appreciate its combination of functional elegance, and style.

And then we're offered... as an example of "aesthetic perfection" that clodhopperish rifle. It may represent functional perfection, but it's ugly as a dirt clod. Dutch... you never fail to impress.

Lots of beautiful objects here, but I think we also need to acknowledge that sometimes it's the photo itself that is the man made object of beauty. I'm sure that ship in BrianW's post is beautiful in it's own right, but that photo is the creative act.

Lindy and I owe her mom a visit, and Lindy has never seen it. We ought to see about hooking up if we can manage the timing. I took the "standard" tour four or five years ago and wouldn't mind going again at all. There is nothing cloying or dowdy about the Gamble House, just beauty and elegance where ever you look.

Another example of 'unclear on the concept'. It's about aesthetics, not function... though I have to say - it's less buttugly than Dutch's offering.

Well, if we're going to talk about the aesthetics of things designed to kill people, then surely the Japanese Katana deserves a mention

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

td - it seems that you fairly consistently have trouble with the concept of people expressing an opinion... at least when that opinion suggests that you have erred.

Since I don't watch tv... I'm not quite sure what a TelleTubby is or represents. But you've made me curious. How am I like a T-Tubby. Wait... have you SEEN the top-secret fotos of my belly?

I find it strange in a way, that aesthetic perfection is mostly posts of manmade "things" and few about anything else. I agree that some took cool, but I also think nature has created some very aesthetically perfect life forms as well.Just saying. Now go back to your jets, planes, guns etc.

    Startled Varmint,

Startled by the facts again, eh. Reread the OP (above). I even highlighted the pertinent section. He was looking for images of man-made items which exemplify or approach 'aesthetic perfection'.

    Got it?

    No? Figured. <sigh>

IF you read the OP, paul said or wrote "generally" not a requirement. But you knew that. You should take your hoof out of your mouth. Both natural and manmade are included in the OP.But you were so excited to think you "got me", I'll make you believe you did. You now can gaze at a mirror and preen.
