Has this boat been sold?
That would be the Oughtred John Dory, right? Someone gots themselves a nifty little sail n' oar boat for a steal.
Amphibious Macroplankton Oughtredia doublendus
Mostly found frequenting the littoral and estuarine zones in the southern half of the Salish Sea, though sightings have been recorded both north and south of this area, and occasionally, but rarely, inland, in freshwater environments. This species lives on micro-brewed beer and dutch-oven biscuits, and displays brightly colored nylon and gore-tex plumage during the rainy season. Approach with caution!
Yes, that would be the one. I am sad.
It looks like it is still available. Here is a newer listing from 4/27.

By the way, this is not my boat. I am always just checking out what is out there.
Cheers,
Brian
Oh, okay. I thought it was yours. This is the very ad I tried to respond to several times. including the very day it started, but haven't gotten any answer. They left no means of getting in touch aside from responding to the Craigslist email. Very frustrating.
I never leave anything other than the coded email link. I get crazies almost every time I post something for sale now. Not worth putting out any personal info. Maybe they misspelled their email address when they plugged it in to be coded, and that's why it's listed again?
All thats on there is the coded link. And yes, I know what you mean about 'the crazies'. Maybe they will list it again...
Well a 17' foot Swampscott just came up in southern MD. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...012889280.html
WOW! Thank you!
As it happens, this gentleman finally contacted me. It seems all his Craigslist email was going into his spam file. I am now the very happy owner of this boat.
Lets see a picture, all of them had expired by the time I found the thread..
Unfortunately, I had just enough time to take her out rowing once and then had to return to work overseas. I will post pics when I get back in August. Now I need to find somebody who would share the sail plans with me, as I would like to change it from its current gaff rig to a sloop rig to simply make it easier and quicker to set up.
Congrats and the boat!
This new ship here is fitted according to the reported increase of knowledge among mankind. Namely, she is cumbered end to end with bells and trumpets and clocks and wires. It has been told to me she can call voices out of the air or the waters to con the ship while her crew sleep. But sleep though lightly. It has not yet been told to me that the sea has ceased to be the sea.--Rudyard Kipling
So which one did you finally get: the Lancaster PA or the Washington DC boat?
Cheers,
Brian
I go the one from Lancaster. The other one was a very sharp boat, but the Lancaster Dory was simply easier on the budget. I do thank everyone here for all their help, and I plan on staying in this forum for ideas and growth.
Pictures!
