Default Even his wife is tone deaf

You would think that after so many public statements demonstrating just how elite they really are, the campaign advisors would have clamped down on this sort of thing.... but Ann Romney steps in it:

Extra Bonus Quote of the Day

"We can be poor in spirit, and I don't even consider myself wealthy, which is an interesting thing. It can be here today and gone tomorrow."

-- Ann Romney, in an interview on Fox News.

The Romneys made $20.9 million last year and are estimated to be worth $250 million.

Did you at one time, or was it Obama, say family members should not be brought up in politics or did I just dream that several have said that?

I think that changes when it's the family member that brings up the subject, Jamie...

Romney isn't running. Should this thread be a repeat of M. Obama's comment she made previously or will Norman call it unwarranted and not post a thread about it if it happens again?Should we call it fair game if she does? I would much rather leave family politics out entirely.
Norman, Thanks for recognizing FOX news..

Two things. Stop with the family off limits stuff. Mary Lincoln was called a fat little mouse, elenore Roosevelt a hoeseface and fdr's dog maligned to let this be the last time anyone claims families are off limits unless you can produce your protest over the monkey family with the Obama faces pasted on. Mrs. Paul is off limits, we never see her, ann is on the trail so tough noogies.

Second, Ann is wrong, the way they have the tax code wired up she could not lose it all tomorrow. I could, she can't.

Odd comment. Bloomfield Hills, where Romney grew up, was either the first or second wealthiest town in the country when he was in high school. That school, today, charges $30,000 a year for tuition, if you are a day student--plus another $10,000 for room and board. The houses have a median price of about $1 million. Of course, a lousy $200 million hardly gets you in the company of the seriously wealthy, so I guess that's what she meant.

She is a surrogate for Mitt, and it is perfectly appropriate to criticize the comments of an official campaign spokesperson.

If she doesn't consider herself wealthy, she'll be the dumbest first lady we've ever had.

Did she ask the question, or the interviewer? I suppose she should have said "no comment" and then those here can go to town, for her saying that. Damn'd if you do, etc....s

Just as a suggestion, she could have said, "Yes, my husband and I have been extremely fortunate. We appreciate, however, that most are not so fortunate."

I suppose she could have answered many different ways in hindsight. Was she given a script before hand?

Well, hear it from her own lips, if you like:

It's not that she said it Norman, but that she could have well been boxed in to responding the way she did. Has anyone thrown a question at you that you answered and then later, thought that it had been a terrible answer and you wish you hadn't said it?I remember M Obama talking, not even at an interview, that she was finally loving the USA? Sure, it was discussed, mulled over, spin etc. but in hindsight, I suspect she felt that she shouldn't have said that in hindsight.

See, there you go again. They met in college, before his 30 month deferment from viet nam missionaring in FRANCE, so she's educated, worth 250 million and on FOX and you say she was "boxed in". Why don't you just change your avatar to a big GOP elephant. I love the dems, you love the reeps. Be loud, be proud. Boxed in........
