A question that raises the question, Why ask here? Trouble getting hold of them? Seeking a job?
My curiosity piqued I peeked around and did not find a direct site for them, but pretty close at: http://www.mdnautical.com/436-cornell-maritime-press
SOme of the pros who frequent this place do so under a screen-name so that assumptions about professional liability or concerns about self-promotion don't arise. Some use a screen-name to avoid intra-professional spats or client/customer disputes that could spill onto these pages. Some appear under their own names since their business situations don't lead to those problems. A publisher might reasonably want to avoid being importuned outside the lines of normal business communications, and that means you might not hear from a Cornell person even if one participates here.
There are many reasons folks, jurlyp included, don't provide personal details here.
G'luck
Yes, I have trouble getting hold of them because their web-site name (www.cmptp.com) was hijacked by someone.
Thus I was wondering whether they are still in business.
Schiffer Books now publishes the books of the Cornell Maritime Press

I called them and they have bought the inventory of Cornell Maritime Press.
They did not say that they are printing or would print any titles.
Thanks for the info, Jim.
I guess that "inventory" does not automatically mean copyright for all the books, does it?
It would be a shame if all those great books published by CMP in the past would vanish, wouldn't it?
Look what happened to S.S. Rabl's "Ship and Aircraft fairing and development". By many it is recognized as a really good book, but for some reason it had not been reprinted since 1985. BTW, how many people here do have a copy of it? Probably not many. How many would like to have a copy? Surely quite some.
I have a copy and it is amazing geometry. Good read to feel comfortable with CAD - makes it "real" as opposed to computer "magic"
My copy was printed in 1994. There are four copies listed on Alibris.com, starting at $160.
There are also four copies of Lindsay Lord's Naval Architecture of planing Hulls, also from CMP, starting at $300.
Gee!
Just wrote to Schiffer Books and asked them about the copyright/plans for the CMP books that are out of print. Let's see what their answer will be. Will post here once I know more.
