    Default Shipmate Stove Works

I have an old Shipmate "Skippy" that I need to find a couple of replacement parts for. I have tried a few times to reach the company themselves but have not heard back from them yet. Does anyone know if they've gone out of business or something? I know they have been selling deck irons on eBay, so I'm guessing they're still around, but it seems strange that I haven't heard back yet. Any ideas?

I dunno. Last time I checked, they were still in business. My guess is that this business is a labor of love and not a 9 to five grind. My only advise is to keep trying.

He is located not far from me. If I head over that way I could ask him in person if I can get ahold of him.

also, have you tried to contact him via ebay? That worked for me.

Yeah well if you see him... Tell him he lost about 1000$ of sales because of his too long answering to emails, as I end up buying it all at the marinestove guy which at least answer you in the same week..

I love the shipmate product, but the service is just way too slow...

Yes indeed we are still in business. In the past two weeks we had Shipmate Stoves and accessories shipped out to Maine, Colorado, Tasmania and Spain. You are correct Jay. While I would love to have enough Shipmate work to keep both myself and my shop partner busy all the time, it hasn't come to that quite yet so I apologize for the less than speedy response. We're doing as best we can. That being said, we have some big news coming out later this summer so keep an ear open.

Matt, please call us at 888-835-4722 and I'll do my best to help.

I must admit a little dissapointment with Joshua III (Stephane) airing his negative comments without telling the full story. Since he chose to do so in a public forum, and since I feel that I went beyond the call of duty, I feel obligated to respond in kind.

Over two years ago Stephane inquired about gettting parts for an old Shipmate Stove. He also inquired about doing website work for Shipmate in exchange for some old parts. I offered to give...give him the parts he was looking for once we had found them. I thanked him for his IT work offer but declined as we were then and are still now happy with our web person. Stephane then asked about a discount and in the spirit of cooperation and goodwill, I offered him a 25% discount and zero interest financing for a new stove with 1/3 down and the balance over 6 months. I did the same thing with the Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter Carlotta and others and truly feel that if I can help get the proper stove in a classic boat, I'm willing to do whatever I can to make help make that happen. Stephane chose not to except my offer and that was the last I had heard from him....maybe I missed something? Feel free to drop me a line Stephane if there was something else I could do for you.

    Cheers,

    Sean Tracy

Sean's business and stoves are top notch. I have no complaints whatsoever. In fact, as he states above, he went out of his way to get the right stove in our boat.

Sean, I was hoping to see you guys at the Maine Boatbuilders Show. You told me there last year that you were working on a small bulkhead mounted stove. Any news about that?

No worry Sean I've bought everything (Parts, hood and everything to install the stove) from Marinestove.

I won't go into a debate here, but yes the average of 3 weeks minimum delay for answer put me off(Just as the person starting this thread seems to have issue, and 2 others thread I have seen about the same subject passing by).

And the 3 emails without answer saying I want to buy smoke hood, pipes didn't help
(5/12/11, 6/14/11, 3/19/11, 8/31/11): Date of a few emails saying I want to buy product without answer)
    .

I still do love the product and it's a terrific stove which I am totally sold to it, I guess we just have some communication problem.

    Hi Steven

We had hoped to make the Maine Boat Builders show this year but it just wasn't in the cards. We're pushing hard to make Port Townsend this year and have also committed to Portland next year. The bulkhead heater is moving along slowly but surely and we'll start to post updates on the Shipmate website as we get closer to offering it and the other new stove models that we've been working on. The bulkhead heater will be called the Model 80 as a tribute to an earlier Shipmate model from the 1900's...more of a small but tall parlor stove. Keep your eyes out.

Stephane....Andrew makes fine stoves and accessories. I'm sure that they'll serve you well. I agree, seems communication between us didn't work out so well. Best to you and your project.
