    Default Need prayers for Meadow.

As I mentioned in a post a few months ago my daughter Keira and her husband Scott were expecting a first child on April 3/12.
Well Meadow had other plans and was born five weeks premature on Febuary 27.
So she is tiny (5lb 15oz) and has not been released yet. She is under 24 hour watch and hooked up to all sorts of things.
They unhooked her lastnight and back on again she stopped breathing and her heart stopped again, these two things have happened several times since her birth.
Now they are changing her formula since she may have an allergy to cows milk.

All this has been quite stressfull as you can imagine, so thoughts and prayers would be appreciated.

    Thank-you, David.

Congratulations Grandpa, what a beautiful name. Medical science is amazing, and just to give you hope, our 31 year old was 3Lbs, and is now an OB RN. She sees miracles every day. My prayers are for her and her loving family.

    Dave,
So sorry to hear about little Meadow. It must be brutal to watch someone so young and helpless go through this but medical science is fairly amazing these days, thank God. Thoughts and prayers sent.

Your a good lot. You really are.

Last few days were quite scary. Meadow had an infection but they didn't know what. She usually has 51 ml every 3 hours they decieded to fast her to clean out her system and gave her only 3 ml every 3 hours. (Like a drop.) So she is always holding her knees up to her little chin because of the infection and hunger pains. She can't have mom's milk since if it's a dairy allergy it's in the mom's milk. So my daughter is off all dairy. Late monday things started to improve and they've found the infection, she has salmonella. It's not known where she got it you can only get it by direct contact. But now they no what they are up against. Meadow is now in an incubator and in complete isolation. But she is improving.

Can't post pictures yet but I'll give you a hint of what she looks like. She is the most beautiful little baby girl in the world and also almost as beautiful as your baby was.

    Thank-you for your concern.

Mar.12/12. Meadow update. Thought yesterday that Meadow may come home today or tomorow. This morning told at least another 5 days. They are totally bewildered as to what it is. They've never seen anything like it in a baby before. The antibiotics aren't working. The rest of us are being sent for testing.

On top of it all my daughter had to have a dog euthanasied on wednesday.

Ah jeeze David, that's rough. If I were the praying sort, that's what I'd be doing. As it is, I'm sending warmest wishes for a speedy sorting-out of whatever the problem is, and a quick transition to good health for little Meadow.

And a hug for you and your daughter as well.

In fact, if you can saw a penciled line, apply glue, drive nails, and bring a modest measure of patience to the task, you can build and launch a smart and able craft in as few as 40 work hours. You need not be driven by lack of tools, materials, skills, or time to abandon in frustration a project you conceived in a spirit of pleasurable anticipation.

Been away for awhile and return to the news of a member asking for prayers. I can certainly afford that request. Children are so grand, I fear for them when they are so fragile. I wish you and yours all of the best.

Prayers sent your way guy, I'm sure things will work out. My twin girls were born 3 months premature with birth weights of 1lb9oz and 1ob13oz and they just turned 4 years old two weeks ago! It is always scary at first, especially when there are problems, but we'll continue to pray and believe that the little one will be OK!

    Things are improving.
The antibiotics aren't working. The hospitial has never seen anything like it. She is still in isolation. My daughter was not allowed to have contact with her for 5 days because she had a coldsore. (Keira just turned 29 on the 13th.) Now she can have contact again. The baby is finally suckling. Her father, (who turned 31 today,) is exhausted.
However, Meadow now has chubby round cheeks and is eating well.

So thank-you all for your thought and prayers.

    Yay!
And just to bolster your outlook.....
Just about 51 years ago I was born 3 months premature, I was about 3Lbs. (I fit in the palm of the doctor's hand) and had my legs turned around backwards. My lungs weren't developed enough to breathe at all, and I spent 4 months in an incubator in the hospital with almost no chance of survival or if I did survive, a normal life....
While some may debate the "normalcy" of my life, I'm still here, and my feet point forwards. (Usually)

    Update. Friday, March 16/12.
The antibiotics aren't helping Meadow but she is getting better which means that she is fighting it on her own. So now the doctors are very sure that the salmonella is in her mothers milk. She has had Keira's milk as early as Wednesday. So now Keira is being treated.
Where did Keira get it? We don't know. Keira thinks its from a couple of calves she was in contact with about 4-5 weeks ago. But salmonella can sit dormant in the body for a long time before it decides to come to life.
So all this time milk is being taken to the hospitial for Meadow, (she can't suckle yet,) and we are delivering the problem.
    Keira is quite upset.
The hospitial has never seen anything like this and its a very rare form of salmonella.
Hopefully we are on the right track now. She is still in quarantine.
Meadow is now 19 days old and I haven't seen her for the last 17 but I sure am emailed a lot of pictures.
