Mr. Toss once wrote of watching Paul Newman swaggering across the movie theatre screen in "Sometimes a Great Notion." Toward the end of the flick, Newman flipped a bowline into a hawser to rig a log float. Mr. Toss was shocked to see a new way to tie the "King of knots" and the magazine article had a drawing of how he did it.
Anyone remember this or have a diagram of how Newman flipped this knot? I have seen the movie a couple times in recent years and kept an eye out for the scene. It seems to have been cut, first showing Newman with the hawser in hand and in the next scene the knot is finished and the line taut on the on the log boom.
