Default Wooden boats, costumes, rrrrum and trrreasure - what more d'ya want?

I thought I'd post this series of photos and short videos by my sweetie taken at last year's Loch Morgan event in Northern Ca. Check out the sailing videos near the end of the treasure hunt section in particular. Our French colours don't provide any protection from the Bavarian guns, worse luck...

The rum, G&T, and various other potables proved the most dangerous part of digging up the buried treasure -

Playing 'Feral Viking Bocce' along the shoreline also proved a challenge -

Well... speaking as your Twin... all I can say is thank all the Gods that there were no fotos included of bejeweled codpieces!

A 'Secret Location' along the coast. Hint, directly between Dry and Freshwater Lagoons north of Trinidad and south of Orick.

Yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of. . .well anything will do, really. Whiskey, if I'm picking. 'Cept for bourbon of course, the refuge of scoundrels.

I will bring my own hat.
    Amphibious Macroplankton Oughtredia doublendus
Mostly found frequenting the littoral and estuarine zones in the southern half of the Salish Sea, though sightings have been recorded both north and south of this area, and occasionally, but rarely, inland, in freshwater environments. This species lives on micro-brewed beer and dutch-oven biscuits, and displays brightly colored nylon and gore-tex plumage during the rainy season. Approach with caution!

Thorne, I always enjoy your posts. Especially the images with the costumes. Have you and or your crew ever been approached by film crews to portray an event or a boat in history.

Also what do the flags signify?

    Thanks

Nope, we aren't good enough to be Commercial Thespians -- but as I recently put it, "I do play an actor on weekends"... (rimshot)

The flags mean various things, none of which will ever meet anything remotely like flag etiquiette. The red on with the curvy symbol is for Morgan's Co'y, aka "Sirens", one of the reenactment groups. The semi-period semi-national flags are 'flags of convenience" == temporarily flown to allow boats to maneuver within water-cannon-range of a target and then "Attaque!". The Bavarian flag is sometimes flown by Pia, who hails from them thar parts of the world. We even fly Coots, TSCA and Wooden Boat flags/bugees upon occasion.

Just to make any FE (flag etiq) folks fly around the room, here's one of my dory flying (top to bottom) US flag, TSCA and Wooden Boat on the mast, and the Morgan's Co'y colors from the rudder head, with John Carlson's Merryrow flying the British Red Ensign.

Just a note, I actually have no problem with FE, and when visiting Canada in my SJ21 I flew the correct national flags from the correct locations, including the ones for Customs before inspection. But when sailing in semi-private waters with reenactors in uniforms and costumes, all that (literally) goes by the board...
