Building a Penobscot 14, Arch Davis Design. The project results so far have been good, but I'm not going to be able to finish.

If anyone knows of someone wanting to take over a project with most of the materials already purchased, please get in touch. jwellman@tyler.net

Sorry you're not able to finish. I'm building a Penobscot 14, and have not bought all the materials yet. I have made the building jig, the stem, frames and bulkheads. Have not bought the plywood, or any of the hardware. How far along are you? Also, I'm in New York, so it may not be worth it to ship big stuff.

Progress - I have three planks on each side, so about half done with planking. I also have the centerboard built and ready for epoxy. The rudder is cut out and partially cut to profile.

I need to find someone that could meet me halfway, so maybe someone who lives within 500 miles would be good. I just can't imagine destroying the boat!

I live 150 miles away to the N.W. Check your email. I dropped you a note. I did work in Tyler for a short time last year. Beautiful country. Whats the name of the lake just north of there that all of the big bass come out of?

If you still have it at Thanksgiving, I'll be back at Holly Lake Ranch, 45 minutes north of you. I was there the first week of September. Darn!

Hopefully you can give the whole project to one nearby person. If for some reason that does not work out, I would pay shipping cost for anything that would easily ship (rudder, centerboard, hardware, epoxy).

    good luck,

My boat now has a new home. Thanks to Karl for making the trip and the kind words!

Thanks again Jim. I will keep you all posted of the progress. The Penobscot 14 will have to wait a few months though. A Redbird canoe that I have started must be finished first. Approx 2/3 complete.
