I am thinking about building a Penobscott 14. Has anyone on the forum built this boat. Where the plans and instruction clear enough for a first time builder to follow. I have been reading the artical written in Wooden Boat vol 138-140. But would like to hear of any others experences.

I finished a Penobscot 14 this summer. If she wasn't so much fun to sail, I would be sorry the building process was finished. Arch Davis' plans are known for being easy to follow, even as a first timer. The building process was truely a rewarding experience. Let me know if you need any advice during the process. There are a few others who frequent this forum who have built the Penobscot 14 as well.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed that Arch Davis calls for making scarf joints on the hull as it is planked rather than scarfing a full lenght plank before building. Does this work well. This is my biggest concern building this boat.
