I am in the market for a boat like this , and she is for sale.
My concern though is that I believe she was built for a lot calmer waters than I sail in.
If you go to Scanboat.com , she is # 11107055 , and you can see her set up as a ketch , with a topsail.
    Regards Rob J.

Rob, can you tell me what units of measurement they give? They give the length of Rikke as 32. Feet? Can't be meters.
    Also where are you located?

On the Scanboat advertisement , she is listed as being 10 metres long 3.90 beam , and draught of only 1.10metres.

    DO IT!
I actually don't know much about this type of boat, but I remember seeing a danish type hull in woodenboat a while back converted to power that crossed the atlantic on her own power. One of the the bigger ketches for sale that I was admiring cruised the Atlantic and Pacific via Cape Horn, so... yeah.

    more eye candy:

A cutter might not be bad. I do like those pilot houses though.

I have been in contact with the owner , and yes , she looks to be a very nice boat indeed , a style I find very easy on the eye.
But my concern is her suitability to our waters. http://www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/vic_west.asp .

Jeez , that would be an ask , sailing her down here .
Still , if you made it , you would know the boat well !.
There is a boat transporter that picks up from several ports in Denmark , and drops off in Portland , about 400metres from my mooring.
The owner has a friend who can advise on her capabilities in open waters.
The photos I have here show her in very smooth waters , that we very rarely see .
I believe though that there are other similar boats designed for seas more similar to ours , that perhaps I should be looking at.
    Regards Rob J.

A couple I like are Elisabeth K571 , quite an historic boat , and Jyden H34 , of which I have a pictorial of her rebuild.
I need a wheelhouse , however so basic.

The boat in the first pic in #25 would do ya nicely.

Is finding the design you want and building/having it build out of the question?

I happen to know about that boat well.
It has a perkins , belt driving the bottom end of an old semi diesel . I would have like to see the semi diesel replaced with another , like Elisabeth K571.

That first boat in the top left of post 30 would be very nice , I've seen a lot of photos of her , she is beautifully done , still with her 2 cylinder Hundested , in pristine condition.
But I want something 9-10 metres , built for open waters.

And then , if you want to see more Danish boats , and have plenty of time try http://fiskerforum.dk/kutterdata/def...kutter&land=dk , particularly the boats that have been discontinued/sold .

You can see where the barge yachts of the 1880's got their lines from

This is Galatea, British Americas Cup challenger 1886.

Beautiful boats, I love the working boat tradition. This is an excellent thread. I maintain a boat porn thread and get a lot of pleasure out of it. I hope you continue this one.
