Default The true purpose of the family jewels

or how logic can lead one astray.

Reported on that inestimable educational programme QI, the Greek philosophers explained the purpose of the male dangly bits thus:

Because people without said appendages, or with small undeveloped dangly bits have high pitched voices.
And people with large, pendulous dangly bits have deep voices, the purpose of said family jewels was to tension the vocal chords, thereby changing their pitch.

    Isn't logic wonderful?

It would follow then, that pulling on the dangly bits would further tension the vocal cords, thereby raising the pitch considerably. Make sense!

But the tone of a plucked string increases with the tension, so the dangly bits must be a counter weight to a tensioning spring. Ergo, no dangly bits = too much tension. I'm sure there's more to be said on that theory.

this has the makings of an (in)decent thread
The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.
Personal failures are too important to be trusted to others.

Boxers if you are trying for a family and briefs if you're not.

Unfortunately i dispensed with undergarments and when i give the reason one would understand my Plight.

Roofing on pitched roofs kept giving me wedgies.

However i keep nice briefs for Doctor visits and dance recitals and Tennis matches.

You have to remember that in Scotland it is always raining and the ground boggy. If it is not raining that is because it is just about to start. Under those conditions boots will always fill with water. Those shoes have the benefit of allowing the water to run out again.

Now, I'm really confused. Is the third shoe a spare? Is that why they call that hangy thing in the front of the kilt a sporren? Inquiring minds want to know.
