It's around 37 c down here at Largs. It's hotter in Adelaide in the city. For some reason this heat seems to have bowled me over. My volunteering program for this afternoon was postponed until tomorrow so I unexpectedly have hours available to put into boat building, but I'm flat out like a lizard.

Greg, how about those external chainplates! Some tricky vectors there.
Lovely Hans! I should give Hugh a ring as I'll be spending a very short while in Melbourne on the way back from Hobart.

Good planning. Are you buying another boat down there that needs delivering somewhere?

Hmm I don't much like the ramming buttresses on that boat. Nasty. Bruce no going for a sail on Leofleda and bringing home my tinny and miscellaneous boat stuff stored in my sisters shed.

I've got an old Fico block here, this model or very similar.

One sheave is OK, the other has a strand of nylon, a fragment of rope stuck down the outer gap and the sheave is stiff to turn. I can't pull it out and can't work out how to disassemble the block ( pull the sheave ), any suggestions ?

There aren't that many left, I guess.

Grantala just needs another 200 to 300 thousand dollars for some minor works. I had a local call over to the boat the other day and ask if I was interested in selling her. The answer was yes. I find it too hard to work on her with my knee.

As a matter of interest, I picked up a couple of batteries today and freed up the stuck Bendix on one of the starter motors yesterday. I need to get back down there ASAP to get the starters back on.... hopefully on a nicer day than the 44C day that we had when I pulled them.

I didn't, it's been there a long time..... and it may not be nylon, just synthetic.

Rain forecast here tomorrow, good. Change came through about 9pm, from dead still to a gusty North wester. Still warm.

Stick a heat gun on it, should be able to melt or soften the rope enough to remove it without wrecking the block and bearings.

Woken by the rain. Not often we get it so heavy for such a long time. It's supposed to be dry down here.

My poor old truck got me to Hobart. Just. Hit a pothole in some roadworks and the arm at the back end of the front torsion bar suspension snapped. So now the poor girl is down on one knee. I've left her with a mechanic in Huonville while go sailing. Hoping he can get a part and fix her up before the 30th when I go home. We are due to leave Franklin in dads boat Leofleda this morning.

Nice little sail from Franklin to Randalls Bay today. Mostly light winds but always aft of the beam and some moments of quite brisk sailing.

It's a perfect day in Largs today. Nice temp, a bit of a breeze, no rain but the ground is still moist after the deluge the other night. No boat progress today, I've been trying to get the truck ready for the Tas trip. I think it's ready, which means it's as ready as I can make it and we'll go with it.

Slow down for the roadworks around Bagdad. Where it says 40, I'd suggest about 10. They don't maintain the unsealed stretches.

Me too. I'm guessing and hoping that it was closed by accident. He seems to be having a nice time up there.
