Have you had something nicked Phil?
Visited Mr Sibley today to scrounge a bit of timber off him and it was a very pleasant way to spend the day.

New sails Peter, loverly. My new Sabre sail is crisp and crackly and actually has a shape! Makes a difference in light airs and the sail tuning gear actually makes a difference. But I need a 20-25 kt day to really see how she goes.
Hot and sticky down here, warm wind from the south would you believe.

I'll let you all know .... but I'm afraid there are still a lot of little jobs to catch up with . I've been pretty slack these last 8 months.

Just checked the book and its the old story... "Soldering crimp lugs is absolutely not advisable, especially for wiring that is subject to vibration : it locally stiffens the copper conductor which may cause it to fracture over time. It may also cause the copper to corrode." It also says that this method crates a "cold weld" unable to be achieved with piers or by twisting. I used a crappy jaycar crimping tool to wire my boat and I wish I'd purchased a good one. Anyhow, flogging a dead horse now. Hope its going well Bruce.

The BOM has a forecast for Hunter waters tonight of a S wind 15 to 265 knots. That's quite specific isn't it? If it isn't a misprint, we should see Masina fly over whatever remains of the house!

Phew! Forecast moderated slightly to 25 knots. I guess that means I can take the rope and chain off the roof now.

Thanks for looking it up for me Al. All info is good info. Much appreciated. All is going ok here. I'm a bit busy with voluntary work in the run up to Christmas so I'm not getting much done this week, but I have some good meaty jobs lined up for the free days coming up!

No worries. My friend has a scamp and it is such a massive ship of a 10 footer, he is endlessly adding tweaks. Awesome design. All the best.

Real good Rick It will be great to see Masina but mostly to finish that first part and the shakedown cruise.

Crew from Sydney onwards is still up in the air, looks like I will be winging it.

My outlaws are too. They recently did a cruise from Sydney to NZ which took them to Milford Sound then up the East Coast and back to Sydney. They had a great time but, as it seems happens way too often on cruises, came back with a nasty flu thing. Too many people on a too-small island - the ship, I mean! We did a trip with them to Tassie a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. But also came back with nasty colds. Ms T was coughing for about a month.

I've been on the interislander a few times . About 3 1/2 hours each time .

Crossed the jolly old English channel in a ship.

Oh yeah , and I just remembered that time we boarded a ferry in Brindisi heading for somewhere called Igonomitsa( sp).
The ferry ramp/ door fried the hydraulics and then every winch on the boat they used to try and get it up with. So they got 2 cranes to close the door , roped it shut and took us to Patras instead.
    That was a lovely cruise.
