Gentlemen/women, I've got 33cm of recent Wooden Boats, Classic Boats and Water Craft magazines.
We're moving from Melbourne (Yarraville 3013) to Brisbane in Dec and I'm gonna toss them. Actually I can't throw them out but I can give them away.

I have Romana's fully tested electrical system at home and will install it over the next few days, hopefully. It comes assembled in it's own portable plastic toolbox ready to use for 'other' uses, like camping, or living off-grid when the next power failure happens, or as a walk-on system for a different boat.

The boat is at the public wharf in Tweed Heads, installed the skylight today then Nellie is fitting the dodger next week.
It is just so much easier finishing the list of things to do when on a jetty.

    is fitting dodger next week

Another perfect day in (Surfers) Paradise..... E wind, no swell, about 6 miles to Pt Danger, heading straight for Pt Stephens. Weather looks good although maybe too much rolly downwind stuff tomorrow pm. I'll wave to all the Tweedies in an hour or two...

24 here today. The youngsters (daughter and bf) arrive this evening, settling in for the summer before heading off to europe next March. They are both hanging out for uni results :-)
They worked last summer in this place that does tens of thousands of school stationery packs, and got offered the same this summer. It pays remarkably well, and ramps up to sixty plus hour weeks for a while - they start tomorrow morning, and have work through to late Feb, which is pretty cool. Anyway, it'll be kind of nice to have a full house again.

Meanwhile, the double glazed window painting project continues. The inside is finished, just a second coat to go on the outside. Then we have to find a tame joiner, and figure out how to mod the last face of the conservatory (it is like half an elongated octagon) to take a set of bifold doors. The munters who built it only put in a single narrow door, and it would be so much better with something larger.

@ Bruce - I dont suppose you took a Mitsi ASX diesel for a test drive, when you were car hunting?
For something that has been around a few years, and especially a diesel that starts with 'M', there are virtually no reported gremlins on the WWW.
About the only 'problem' seems to be clogged diesel particulate filters in the exhaust, if they dont get at least twenty minutes open road running every couple of weeks.

Sorry Pete, I never tried one. If there gremlins the web won't hold back though, so good sign. I think that any of the simple diesels need the gunk burned out regularly. We did my truck yesterday.

No worries Bruce, I didn't think you had. I'm trying to muster some enthusiasm again for the whole car buying exercise, and not really succeeding. How is the Panzer Wagon working out for you?

I'm loving it too much. It wants to invade somewhere so we are taking it to Tassie in the new year.

Blew it's pants off again today till about 3 and then dropped to zilch. Disgust all round at the club, measured at 30 kts gusting all over the place to 36. Then dead calm. None of it dinghy sailing weather. Warm though.

    No just high on life.

Just curious how did you make out with the Southerly today. not to mention the 1.5 northerly set if you where within waving distance of Pt Danger?

The southerly was a bit of a fizzer so we were able to leave in an E wind. S current is running at a knot or two but it did seem slower around Pt Danger. Good wind all day yesterday. Wind dead N today which is rolly and annoying but we're getting along okay. At Solitary Is now.

Sounds like you're having a decent run - enjoy the home stretch. No photos?

I was on Redwing but we were tied to the dock waiting for a visitor. It would have been fun to have sailed out and waved hello.

I bought some 2nd hand Rhino roof racks via the wreckers but it seems I have been sold a dud. I specified racks to suit a Mazda 323 Astina but what I got was something designed for false gutters that are pop riveted to the roof! The racks are missing the pads so I went to Auto One to see if I could buy them. ###@&$##!

I bought a switch panel for Romana, so there's no excuse for me to not start installing the elctrics this week.

Oh wiring up a boat is such a fun job...not!
I used a lot of recycled extension lead and old for eg. vacuum cleaner leads and they've worked quite well.
