What do you guys call Gib stopping? Whatever it is I'm doing it. I've made so much mess, there's plaster dust everywhere. We have doors gasketed off with towels and tape and drop sheets and the stuff still gets in. There's so much freakin plaster dust I'm worried about having a shower and turning into one of those terracotta warriors they found under some Rulers tomb.
There's only one job worse, and thats sanding board and moulding ceilings up 12 ft and I'm doin that too. Too bloody old for this crepe.

If you're not talking about Duncan's banning - from the sounds of the mess it sounds like gyprocking or plastering, or in foreign speak: dry-walling

I bought a kg of frozen mango cheeks yesterday for $5.00 (last seasons) and am waiting on a tray of fresh mango's for the same price - they're just coming into season now

    Enjoy and thanks.

I think it's gyp stopping. Short for Gyprock or gypsum board. The Murricanes call it drywall.

I hate the stuff. Cheap, practical and looks great, really, but really messy. I'll use a bit of it and retain a bit of it but I'm using alternatives wherever I can. Where I have to use Gyprock, I'm edging it with edging strip or timber and trying to avoid any corners, especially external ones. I've got one long, sloping ceiling that I did a crap job of Gyprocking about 20 years ago. I'm going to line that ceiling with regency profile t&g but rather than remove the Gyprock and all the rats' nests, snake skins etc. lying on it, I'm going to locate the joists, run battens along the joists, leave the Gyprock there and just line under it. It's not a bad insulator, doesn't weigh tooooo much and I quite like the idea of burying it alive.

But right now I'm laying 20 x 130 blackbutt floorboards on both levels of the pile of rubble and sundries we call our house.

By the way, Gyprock plastering doesn't have to be sooooo messy. You just have to minimise the sanding. Fill all your joints etc. with the harder, more flexible plaster - Greg will know its proper name, and use a cornering tool, trowels etc. so that it doesn't have to be sanded. Really work it as it doesn't matter if you leave cracks and pitting in it. Just make sure you leave it just shy of the finish level because it's a bastard to sand. Then finish with finishing plaster. You have to sand this but if you've put a bit of effort into the base coat (I remembered), you won't have to sand it much.

I know this from learning from my mistakes. When I first Gyprocked this place, the neighbours thought we had snow in Mallabula for the first time in history.

Just finished the painting job...for now anyway, there's still more to do. Now I have to turn my attention to the next Foodiefest event next Saturday, after that I want 2-3 days in the shed to catch up on orders for vege boxes and of all things Crucifixes!
I've gone from chasing a few dollars to chasing my tail.
I don't think the gear bags are going to Happen Rick, there's just too much work in them. I've got 3 ditty bags stitched up and just needing the webbing but they are far from neat. To be honest I'm finding it easier to knock up stuff in the shed which takes far less time for the given dollar.

Same in Nauru, at least in the olden days - except livened them with the crunch and salt of oxo cubes.

Not when I was there. In fact the local beer, SP, was excellent, to my taste anyway, almost the same as Southwark Bitter, better known as Green Death, which is pretty much the only beer I really like.

I have no idea other than she will be painting them and gluing stuff to them. These will be 18" high and she may want larger.
Also have 2 orders for these at $40 each.

You've obviously never planted one. They all grow that high, if they grow. But he was talking about crucifixes.
