I had one of those Toranas. It was a pretty hopeless car.

Grabbed a handy hand rail thing so I could lean out and get a good look. Except it wasnt a hand rail, it was a ladder which folds down into the water. Which is what it did when I grabbed it and leaned out over the water. So I got kind of horizontal over the water, hanging onto a folding ladder which offered no support, and managed to grab the stern line, which gave me some support. But I could see that failing to keep me out of the water as the boat pulled in closer to the berth due to my weight on the stern line. Luckily Bruce was there and he grabbed at one of my legs which was up in the air by now. And it was one of those moments where things were briefly stabilised, but it wasn't going to last long, and neither of us knew quite what to do next. I worked out the ladder wasn't doing me any good, so released it, and offered that hand to Bruce. He managed to grab my hand without letting go of my foot, and haul me away from the clutches of the icy depths.

All in all quite a good day out.

My brother had an XU1. My other brother had two Vauxhall Vivas. He bought the second one for spares. Each week he cut a bit off the remaining one and put it in the whizz bin. To save dump fees. He remains a stingy bastard.

I agree with JB. If Bruce and Phil are going to do any more comedy routines, we need video. Perhaps there ought to be a nautical equivalent of dashcam. Boomcam.

As for flares, my then fiancee, now wife of 43 years, made me a pair of jeans with the widest flare physically possible with denim off-the-roll. She embroidered huge dragons on the flared lower leg cloth, in red, gold and silver thread. I was unfknblvbl back then. We had a BMW R50 for transport, then a Triumph Herald Coupe. The world was good. I regret growing up, such that I did.

As for video, are our word pictures not enough? we've crafted a wondrous graphic clip of a highlight for the day and implanted it into your visual corteces without the aid of cameras. Your minds will do a better job of editing and enhancing the clip that any computer. Be happy with that.

Hmmm, all out of pies. Just had baked beans for lunch. Sans toast. I did nuke them though, not cold from the can.

They have $5 written on the base of each one...so yes they were.
I think there's more than I need though. Tom was interested in a couple I believe.
I bought myself a Go Pro style camera from Ebay today. I got sick of reading reviews of different ones and I couldn't afford a GoPro so I bought a SJCAM SJ4000. Not perfect but it should do me for a while.

Well bought Gary! They look good.

Not so well bought, it seems, was my 'shortbruce' wetsuit. I queried the seller today and got a message back claiming a warehouse bottleneck, and that they will be attempting to send it by the end of this week. Not 0verjoyyed. Ordered on the 10th, delivery terms say dispatched 4-7 working days after order, and their online order query screen says 'transit'. I'm not really at the stage of cancelling the order, but I'm peeved that the order query screen seems to me to be deceptive, unless 'transit' means something that I don't understand yet. Sounds like maybe their claim to have 2 in stock might have been a bit of an exaggeration. Still, no real downside apart from my disappointment as the new kayak isn't quite due for pick up from the manufacturer.

Finally started on the ditty bags today. Had a bit of fun working out how the reverse knob actually worked mechanically as it was stuck in reverse. It's a pivoting cam that has gotten a bit still over time. Gave it an oil and hopefully it will free up a bit over time. You need the reverse stitch to lock the start and finish of a line.

I ended up with one item for free.... waited for it for 3 weeks... complained. They sent "another" which didn't arrive on time. I complained again about 3 or 4 days after it was supposed to be here. fleabay jumped on it... full refund... and it turned up later that day. Only a bit under nine bucks... and I couldn't find any way to actually tell them it'd arrived or get the money to them. I decided they owed me nine bucks for the crap service and I'll get over the guilt some day

.... and if anyone ever figures out how to use a GoPro properly.... how about some lessons? My (3 now) Contours are so much more user friendly it isn't funny. Even worse than the GoPro is the damn gymbal mount I got for it. It's bizarre how some of these things require a Phd in how to operate them

My son in law has a Chinese version that he uses on his quadcopters and underwater in the surf .... I have some excellent screen shots to prove it . It cost $100.

I seriously looked at that one but it doesn't seem to have an LCD screen on the back. This one comes with waterproof housing etc. I plan to explore the cane barge wreck near Ukerabagh Island. The wreck is in only a few feet of water but almost flush with the bottom. I figure I will drift over in the dinghy with the camera under water. I really want to start exploring the river more on my weekends...more sailing.
