    Well done, Tom!

Did the car go OK on the drive home? (Just kidding. Testing if Rick's actually gone to bed yet)

Yeah new rule. No power sanding or grinding on the wharf. I may have to go back to the pumpout dock tomorrow just to tidy up today's work.

Found a second hand furniture shop down in Huonville, which has a back room full of timber slabs. Nice boat building timbers Rick. Although I think his customers are more furniture makers. Huon, myrtle, celery top and a few others. Prices are way less than I expected. I got a lovely slab of myrtle to make a bench in our new bathroom, 2.2 metres long, about 30mm thick, rough bark edges, ranging from about 40cm wide at one end to 15 to 20 at the other which is exactly what I wanted. $30.00. I can't do pictures from the iPad.

It was especially for Monique our skipper, she has come a long way since I joined her crew just after her purchase of the Corsair which she started racing immediately with only limited sailing experience gained from a sailing course.
Embracing the steep learning curve wholeheartedly Moni managed to steer "Well Laid"to third in the last series with up to 9 Corsairs competing.

Sounds good! I'd better get the address as we're bringing the car in Feb.

Supposed to be a sunny day today, I was going for a paddle.
Cold (about 8c), overcast and drizzly. Oh well.

Phil, have you ever gone to Island Speciality Timbers at Geeveston? It's somehow attached to Forestry Tasmania. Could be private but I don't think so. They have great stock and their prices used to be very good.

There's a drama series on SBS On Demand called Trapped. Very good. Not about boats really but some great boats in it and set in a very interesting part of Iceland that should appeal to anyone interested in sea conditions in that part of the world. It's similar in atmospherics to Fortitude but a much better production in my opinion.

    Rick

PS There's a scene where a car breaks down so that should also appeal to some here.

Rogue Empire, on your right on the way into Huonville. At the moment their stock and prices seem better than Specialty Timbers. Bunch of stuff half price at the moment because trade has been a bit slow.

These people are worth a call too. I think they're retiring which may bring stock prices down.

Sorry it's not boats, cars or a weather report, but it does feature wood - so for anyone who may be interested and who might otherwise not open a gun thread in the gutter, sorry bilge, here's a link to my FIL's shotty that I restored while I was in WA and the new box that I built for it over the last week or two (between building in a room under the house).

    http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthre...-Father-in-Law

(I probably wouldn't otherwise brag about it but it was such a pleasure of a job and my father in law was absolutely over the moon with it so I figured it is worth bragging about)

Now maybe I've inhaled too much epoxy fumes but I swear a Focke Wulf 190 flew over today. Going by the shape it could not have been anything else.
