Don't worry about it this Friday, the logistics are too complex.
I'm thinking about putting a light weight stainless steel arch over the cockpit to stop the sheet from scything the occupants during a gybe. It would a handy support for a cockpit awning as well. The other thing I want to do is move my 2 batteries further forward and under the settee berths.

I've got 20 minutes of vid from that quadcopter, around and around , around the hills and even in the shed . The young bloke flies it with video goggles and it's amazingly fast and the vid is just scary !

Bukh Diesel Australia ....... grrrrrrr! Last time I priced a part from them, I ended up buying it for over $100 less in NZ. Yesterday, I stupidly ordered a standard Johnson pump from them, as I wanted to be doubly sure that the pump was compatible with our engine. But today I checked with the Australian Johnson agent who wouldn't give me a price but asked who our local marine supplier is, and rang him with a price. $130 less than BDH!

    Never again!

Really looking forward to laying eyes on this MG. I had a mate in Perth take a look at it. He says it is immaculate, and he's extremely finicky about cars, so that is very high praise. Apparently it has about 800 miles since a full restoration. You can see in the pic the bolt head holding the front guard on is new. That sort of restoration. All new chrome, rebuilt motor, new interior, bare metal repsray, the whole 9 yards as they say. Needs a tune, apparently, but otherwise good to go. I'm at the Nullarbor Roadhouse (again) tonight.

Speaking of bolt heads ...... that 'wheel nut' you queried on Masina wasn't an elbow in the water system after all. The nut you could see is actually part of the structure of the fuel filter - the clamp that holds the glass on.

Enjoy the trip - sounds nice!

Mmmm. Just bought myself a fancy Veritas crosscut saw. Now I know what all the fuss is about.

And in other news, if you sharpen a chisel like it's a lens, going through all the grits of aluminium oxide and finishing with cerium oxide on a strop, you can see your reflection in it. Not sure it cuts wood any better though, and it still goes blunt just as fast.

Better to have a quick method of honing and just sharpen every day you're using them. I use Japanese water stones - an 800 and a 6000 - at the end of the day.

For my general purpose chisel I use the belt sander and then a wet stone of unknown pedigree or grit.:-)

Did a bit of measuring on the boat today, I'm going to move the house and the cranking batteries further forward to under the settees. Will possibly do that next weekend.

We have a constitution and a set of house rules. Things like no dog and cats. All livestock to be fenced. This moron has 4 useless horses, one of which he persistently lets roam free on the road. Someone finally put a note on the board, unsigned to the effect of fence it or lose it. So he comes up to my house in a huff and accuses me of writing it. When we tell him about the house rules he doesn't believe in rules and we're bullying him! The brits have a name for people like him..it's tosser.
For 38 years I've lived here, just wanting a quiet life but for some reason I have to constantly deal with socially challenged morons...

Well, I did, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. What's been bugging me for a while though is whether the Stag that Dennis Waterman drove in 'The Minder' is the same one that he uses in 'New Tricks' -- anybody know? (I believe it's a '73 model, but I don't remember the yellow stripe on it in 'The Minder'.)

And next week it's the Mini -- the real one. Some young tyke a while ago was raving over an apparent remake of 'The Italian Job', using the new pseudo-Minis. When I suggested he might like to see the original Michael Caine version he didn't even know there was one....

    Sometimes I think I'm getting old. <sigh>

The new Mini is so very much not a Mini, it's a medium sized family car. I owned one so I know. :-)

I wonder what Rick said... something like this perhaps..?

Has there ever been a Triumph Stag owned by someone without a disaster story?

No. I saw a whole family killed in a Mini once, from what should have been a fairly minor prang. Sorry for the fans but I think they were terrible cars.
