There's a hole in our front yard now.

Here she is, all set to go

And here comes the tilt tray

    Up and away ....

    Really a lovely boat

    And she's gone!

Now, what to do with all this space?

He's not the only one. In my defence, I am halfway through rebuilding the house! There'll be a new driveway running under the deck/carport to a small deck in front of the right hand half of the shed. The left hand driveway will remain a driveway for a while as I'm bringing the Folkboat home for some refastening soon. But, now that the Twister has gone, I can remove all the timber and props from the front yard!

Yes. The guy and his wife are really enthusiastic about the project. He's a pro boatbuilder and has set up the boat next to his workshop. We're invited to a BBQ there next week to celebrate the arrival of the boat. He'll reconstruct the shelter first, then remove the ballast and have everything blasted (soda for the hull, sand for the spars and ballast).

So... you mean there should be a boat there?

Slightly off topic. Has anyone seen the NOAA storm swell charts for the next 7 days? WA is copping it and we're in a hammering on the west, southern and east coasts!!

    That's off topic?? Blimey!

I think there's been an inversion too, in that case.

No, where do you find them? I've just tried Googling them.

    Default Antipodean Boats Connection

Lady Julia Percy Island is a good way round the coast towards Portland so he may well be involved in the search and rescue. Hope they bring him back OK. There are some tricky bits of coast along that way. I don't know how close in you'd be for gummy fishing.

No EPIRB? IF he's not carrying one, and he may well be, of course, you'd have to wonder why. A few miles off the coast, he'd be spotted pretty quickly. Without an EPIRB, could be anywhere.

Hope he hasn't set it off only because he doesn't need to.

Some of you will recall a discussion about getting an artist to do a painting on our lane wall. Weeeeell ... each year Newcastle has a design festival called Look Hear. http://www.lookhear.com.au. The festival has a part called Hit the Bricks in which they get artists from around Australia to paint walls, factories etc. with murals, and then they arrange a sort of self-guided tour so people can wander around Newcastle looking at the various murals. This year they're going to include our wall. We don't know which artist it'll be yet but we're really happy to be involved. We have to pay for it but it ought to be worth it and we're happy to be supporting this festival.
