I hope you haven't bought full finger gloves. They're not much good for anything except sittin on the rail. In dinghies and trailer sailers you'll always need gloves with exposed fingertips. There's simply too much urgency to be without useful fingers.

I had some with really short cut-offs. Not sure what they were for, but not sheet hand work. Now I've replaced them with long cut-offs that cover most of the fingers but still leave enough of the tips uncovered to be able to do stuff.

Just buy full gloves and cut off the bits you don't want. That's what I do with diving gloves.

Great sail today - squally southerly so plenty of variety, but no big gusts. Cool in the wind, really pleasant!

The Clipper Ship City of Adelaide is now a bit more than 400 nautical miles from Headland, WA, it's first port of call back in Australia. Depending on weather etc it is due in Port Adelaide in a bit over a week.

There's a TS 16 on Gumtree, "needs restoration", a little bit SW of Ballarat. Asking $1,000. I have sent an SMS to the seller to see if I can discuss details. Depending on what the sellers says needs "restoring" I may be heading that way soon to have a decco. Compulsory rest stop at Portland, I'd assume

I've tried twice now to contact this seller. First time was email and got no reply, but didn't really expect one as I was sort of trying it on. Second time was a direct phone call, my name not mentioned so he wouldn't slam the phone down "it's that idiot who emailed" and left a voice message, and no response. I'm thinking if the price is negotiable, as the ad says, and the ritzy outboard is as good as it looks and can be on-sold, this might be a goer and I'll get johnno the outboard going. So at the moment I actually have two possibles on the simmer!

There's a Goat Island Skiff on Gumtree for $5,000.

If it was $1,000 I'd be tempted to have a look, even though I know I'd never take it out into the gulf. Is it just me that thinks that $5,000 for a GIS is way over the top?

9 to lose? or 9 as a sale price? Who, other than Frankk, is going to buy a relatively small ferro boat, laid up in a yard, for sale by the yard, on behalf of an owner in poor health? if Frankk doesnt step in my bet is that it will be broken up by an excavator before June.

Also noticed a whole fleet of fibreglass bluebirds for sale in melbourne at the moment, along with a really, really pretty little cold mouolded day sailer.
