Yes of course but you don't find bad plastic sailors at the pointy end of the fleet.

Cool, so when's he starting on the Dragon?

No sailing here today. Trees down, waves up. Hard to stand up outside. Gusts up near 50 knots.

My son had a car rear window sitting on the ground outside our shed. (Yes, he did. Its just a fact, it requires no analysis.) I finished doing some work on the tractor, and looked over to see what looked like hail all over felicity's car-about 15 metres from where the window had been. Then noticed the window wasnt there any more. And the hail was shattered glass. Do you know how heavy a car window is? Must have been quite a gust!!

It was blowing so hard on the sea front every time I took a step forwards I had to cross back over the road again. Someone was walking a big dog in that! Can you believe it? The poor pooch was having a terrible time of it. He did the same crap three times! Another man was flying a poodle on the end of a string!

All the media are talking about 100 km winds for the Blue Mountains tomorrow, and apparently the Gov is closing all the schools etc. but the BOM have winds in the 30 - 50 km range. BOM forecasts usually overestimate wind strength, so I don't know where these higher forecasts are coming from. I find BOM forecasts are generally pretty good so I hope that's so tomorrow! Some rain would be good! We have a cool, humid easterly here at present. Rick

Meanwhile.... I just unloaded the trailer. Bazza had some gear stored in my shed. When I told him I was moving out of it, he took most of his stuff and said the rest was mine. I've got the old Singer sewing machine on Gumtree but for some silly reason, I brought home the cast iron sawtable. Bloody hell its heavy. Five or six pieces, a couple of which need two people to move. Ugh. Bazz only ever used it as a height adjustable bench. I'll probably do the same. I'll post a photo when I get it assembled. Its real old iron.
What's the sewing machine Ian? Would it be up for sewing canvas covers?

And fairly still around here. There's a fire near Redhead, Southern Newcastle/Lake Macquarie. Feels more like December than October! Rick

Stupidly hot! Feels more like January/February that October! I had to work with the shed closed up today as I was re-spraying all hoop pine and slash pine with permethrine before re-stacking it under the new bench, and it was windy. Back has finally said "Enough already!" as I was finishing up. I really hope we get a bit more rain here soon. The good dump we had a week or so ago has probably dried up already.

Hope everyone down in Sydvegas and around your way Rick are safe and sound. Horrific images on the news! Here's to rain coming!

How's the old guy that lost his shed holding up?

I haven't seen him since I went over there last week. He's had a ton of offers of assistance so I'll call in once things have settled down a bit as I reckon they've been inundated with media and others. We could do with a bit of rain here, that's for sure but I never thought I'd hear you blokes up there in the deep north wanting rain!

It's as dry as a dead dingo's donga up here right now, plus the wind that kicks up about this time of the year really make it all a bit scary, particularly with all the goings on down your way.

Turning the boat around tomorrow in preparation for the engine removal on Friday. Strong NE winds are a pain but the wind is supposed to turn light around midday Friday.

Had an interesting offer (or was copied in on the email to my bosses with the offer) for me to spend a week being briefed by some engine tech's and innovation engineers in Friedricshafen in Nov/Dec.......I'm not at all confident that my employers will pursue the offer (in fact I'm pretty sure that they'd all be having a chuckle over it about now), but it's a rather nice feeling to have been thought of for it....

They may decide that the cost of the trip could potentially save a few million shekels but, if they do, I think they may also find someone a bit further up the food chain to send over there....... sadly...

Keen to get Crackers out in the gulf tomorrow in 15 knots SW dying off to 10 or below as the day gets old. Hoping the waves subside quickly, to avoid a choppy sea. I'm in need of a sanity sail.

11.45 pm. pouring again. Woke me up at 2 last night. Waded around th garden in gum boots all day and came in covered in mud. Ridiculous. We're off in the motor on sunday for a week and a bit. Ballan, Avoca, Horsham for obligations and then we'll wing it. This retirement caper aint what it's cracked up to be. It's taken 2 months to get a clear week so obviously we're doing way too much

Don't worry about it Ian, thanks anyway though. As you say, the cost of freight would probably be more than it's worth and I'm in no hurry for one. I've just been quietly keeping an eye out for one to sew up sail covers and so on down the track when Larrikin is getting closer to sailing.
