John's a rum drinker and I have some of his preferred tot awaiting him when he pops down to pick up some timber (yet to be cut) for his proa project.

Good to see him wearing a smile eh!

Anyone know any inside ken about a nice little boat up in Sydney name of Endurance? History, current state of well being? Not an old boat, nor a cheapy, but a woody.

Good news Johnno. I hope you're back on your feet fishing and sailing and boatbuilding real soon.

    From John on FB.
To all my various friends you will have picked up that I had a big scare but the tumour they found on my spine was luckily benign. It seems it was also very large and had been there long enough to make some scarring on the spinal column which I think is just going to need patience to restore. Thanks so so much to all of you for your very special wishes which I'll never forget. Xo

Yep. When John rang, he said that he wanted to thank everyone here too but he can't log onto the WBF on whatever devices he has there in hospital, so he asked me to pass on his news and thanks. We all look forward to seeing him back out there on Sarah Wilson and fiddling around with outriggers!

Job interview done. Good blokes, good company, meaty project. Now to wait and see if they think I'm 'the one'. It's with Taylor Bros doing defence contract. I could get my teeth right into that.

I have contact with a guy in Sydney who's selling a semi-restored Folkboat. I have no interest in it except he asked me some questions a while ago. It seems like a nice boat - has an outboard and it doesn't seem to me that there's a whole heap of work to do on it. I think he wants about $5000 for it. If anyone's interested, send me a PM and I'll give you his details etc.

Good luck Bruce, it's a great project (I do know it) and will keep you busy for quite a while if you can get in there.

Finished shovelling and wheel-barrowing 10 tonnes of 30-75mm gravel today. It's all gone around the downhill side of the shed to give it a bit of a pediment and an external pathway around it. 2 tonnes today (along with gleaning about four big old fence posts from a neighbour who was going to set a match to them) and 8 tonnes on Monday with Tuesday written off. I ache!

Good luck on the job Bruce and more good vibes to John in the medical clink.

Bring a jumper and a spray jacket or something to keep the chill out. I don't mind if it's a bit cloudy (rather sunshine) but I do want a bit of a breeze. We will be going up to the boat tomorrow arvo. I'm hoping to get a bit of varnish work done...not looking too promising though. At least I want to tackle the cabin side/flashing leaks. The plan is to rout a narrow groove between the cabin side and the flashing piece, then run a bead of mastic along it.

I liked the hull. A bit like a Len Randell design but a bit sleeker and a bit more sheer, my photo probably doesn't do it justice.

We can have a closer look on Monday, she's been anchored in the channel for a few months that I know of.

Gary, what kind of cooking facilities does the ship have? I'm thinking a stew of some kind could be good for lunch. A good quality crusty bread and a couple of fermented hop juices should see us right for the midday comestibles. And a wee something for morning seconds and a cake for afternoon tea!

I'll bring a good camera too! (SA rules eh!)
