I take it tonight's episode will be available later. I watched the previous one about aged beef. (poor little Wilbur)

Bushfires near our house in Adelaide last night-in mid May, like winter. Must be the end of the world.

We were driving through the hills recently and signs were up advising it was time to do burn-offs. Nekk minnit, fire bans and bush fires. A bit unusual.

    From Mori Flapan's register:

The trading ketch 'Lenna' was built at Port Cygnet in 1903 by John Wilson & Sons for Risby Brothers, with Tasmanian bluegum hull and kauri decks. She was built 'especially strong for Messrs Risby's logging trade' and was later operated by Henry Jones &Co. Lenna worked in Tasmanian coastal waters until 1958. She was sold and went to the mainland where she has worked as a passenger vessel in Victoria and NSW. Lenna was given a temporary reprieve from the breakers early last year, but her time may now be up. Her current owner, Alan Draper of Gosford, is keen for her to return to Tasmania. She is now on the shoreline near Gosford, with orders for her to be removed. Unless funds can be found to bring her back to Tasmania, the hull of this fine ship is likely to be cut up and sent to the tip.

Not sure what the current status is.

Well the morning in the boat shed went well. In other news, the varnish on the boom has not gone off and after a week I've bitten the bullet. It's coming off as a sticky yellowish glue-like substance. I'm going to have to take a lot of the epoxy substrate off as well, just to get the varnish off. There goes Friday arvo I guess.

Phil are you keeping on top of the fire situation? House gone in Blockers Road. That's still a little way from your place but the wind is northerly. Ask if something needs doing, or someone needs a bolt-hole. They don't look like getting any respite up there ar the moment, the wind is coming up, quite gusty.

Yeah, its nasty-a couple of our friends have lost their homes. I think our place is pretty safe-we are in orchard and grass, and the grass around our place is mowed short. Will has had the sprinklers on, fire tank is full, fire pump has been fuelled and started. And i think he's gone to the local footy club.

I've managed to clean up the boom, thank Bob. As a pick-me-up I went to the sailmaker's loft today to have a look at the sail being made. I love the cream colour, and I think the panels running parallel with the leech was the right decision. It will be ready for pick-up tomorrow mid morning. Another little job ticked off the list.

Having said that, I reckon its about 2km away, and heading our way. We are at Basket Range-but it has to get up there and then down the other side before it hits us. Embers could come our way if the wind is right.

Just in case, we've asked our boys to move my little boat and the Lotus out of the shed-there are some pretty big pine trees across the road-if they go up the shed might go too.

Good move. The wind may stay where it is until early tomorrow, and if so it could be a rotten night up that way. Are the boys staying put? I've read that some of the roads are being closed now.
