It's a rather large but likely shallow draft motor cruiser set up as a base for wake boarders. The fleet sailed round him today as he shifted position trying no to go aground on the low tide. There really isn't room for him there, and not much options to go anywhere else in the estuary. I did not hang about to ask the rather hirstute individual on board any questions. The bar is very shallow, the club rescue boat has been called out regularly to retrieve crews from boats and PWC. If it came in there is no guarantee it can get out as there is no longer a marked channel due to there not being one. The tidal flow over the shallow bottom is as much as 7kts
For today's fleet of 21 assorted sailing dinghies it involves lifting your skirts (centreboards)
lest you strain your boat or capsize. Some of us have shorter non standard centreboards just for sailing in the estuary.
Damn good days sailing nevertheless, especially when, as the tide came in the rollers from outside came with it. Always fun sailing in a 4ft short chop. I quite enjoy it myself.
