Trailertri 680/720 is the answer to that list of needs

Interesting; I love the TTs and years ago a mate bought one on my recommendation. The 680 wouldn't work since a boat that only performs under a big genoa isn't much good around here. The 720 could be interesting but the accomodation is tight, and the stick is big compared to the Gem 550 that inspired the desire. Sweet boats, though.

That was partly a joke on my part, as it's probably not the aesthetic they were looking for. I think the affordable part is the dealbreaker in that list. How do the ts18's performance wise? Otherwise maybe boterill explorer, (but fiberglass)

Actually, it was also an interesting answer! :-)

She'd like a wooden interior, but the boat that inspired her otherwise is a Gem, a cute little '80s GRP boat; there's no need for a classic exterior. One of the things I notice from running one design classes and clubs is that most people really dislike lagging behind the fleet, which would be a problem with a TS18, 16 or Explorer. I was actually thinking about the Explorer as a club training boat but we've just been given two Corsairs.

From the thinking I've been doing I think it's a case of just watching until something rare like a Young 6 pops up, if they are serious. This sort of discussion shows some interesting gaps in what's available. I've always been struck by how little work it is to make a boat look vastly nicer by using timber inside, but instead people go to great lengths to use Frontrunner and other carpet-like products.

Of course, in Germany the only problem would be finding the money for something like this.....

It's a pity we don't have their amazing wooden trailer-yacht scene. Sigh.....

There's lots of boats like that in the movies. You know... outside it's a 26 ft sailing yacht but in the down below shots its a 70 ft motor sailer built for the Czar Nicholas.

Masina is like that! Outside she's a 38' round-the-world cruiser. Inside she provides ample space for 1.5 hobbits.

The TS18 is a lot of boat for it's size. The wide beam gives a lot of below deck space.
Here's one for $4,000 ono. North Haven SA.

Yah, but in this case it really is a 15 or 20 sq m Jollenkreuzer.....be still my beating heart.

Okay, the interior of Chris' German boat is vastly superior, aesthetically speaking, to Gary's potting shed.

Can't argue with that, but the potting shed does have standing headroom

Though it's windward ability is sadly lacking.

20201121_115739.jpgHello, I new the Verteu class yacht at 25.6 LOA was at the lower end of cruising yachts but to be presented with the 'Wooden' spoon is a bit rough. Vertue yachts are in for the long haul not round the cans stuff withe GRP types.

A friend of mine is visiting his son in Sale in December and would like to take his son sailing for a day. Does anyone know of anyone who could hire out or lend him a boat? Dinghy, TS, anything? He's been trying hire places but no luck yet.

I'd get him to ask on the Paynesville classic boat festival Facebook page, they seem very active in the area

Today's weather report...Seriously effing hot!! Far too hot to work on a roof...anyway I managed a bit over half done.
Been offered some work stripping down some large shop fridges so they can be removed from the shop. Just have to make sure I don't release any coolant..toxic stuff.

    Bu..er Gary, send my regards.

Sunday sailing. More rubbish northerlies, hot and humid and heavily overcast. Tow in after afternoon race as the wind just died.
Began raining at about 5 and has rained heavily all night, as I type the intensity is ramping up. No wind, just straight down.

The brother in law is a musician and has been hanging out with quite few people. To say I'm a bit concerned would be understating the obvious.

The granddaughter is feeling a bit better and now the son in law is developing a few symptoms. So far it's looking like it's fairly short lived.

Well after the horror stories I've heard about the effects of the virus it seems to have touched my daughter and her family with a light brush. All are feeling much better.
