Thanks Tom, I had forgotten about that. My visits to the wharf have been few and far between this year.

I understand. Andrew and his lovely girlfriend Bronnie crew for me regularly they are a great couple and you will appreciate meeting them.

on another note I have. devised a plan to trick up Jimís cockpit coming involving some recycled teak decking preferably with a bend apron 3 m long .Do you have anything left over that you can spare ?

Halam can you please contact me regarding the block offer and price as I am fast running out of time getting WB ready for the Vintage Regatta.

Honestly timber (tufnol) blocks are starting to give me nightmares, not only for WB but now also for Jim.one of the beautiful timber blocks she was launched with was lost.

No spare teak that would suit what you want to do, however what dimensions are you looking for?

The idea started with one teak deck board being cut in half and using the natural bend as a cap for part of the cockpit coaming. Then the front of the coating cap would have to be laminated following the curvature, after which I would finish the remaining vertical coaming with same teak veneer set in epoxy.

Hi, Just mixed up 5 litres of Tui of Opua cream that we use on the topsides, deck, exterior cabin sides cockpit and all the painted surfaces inside, should last for another 10 years. Also cleaned up my Japanese chisels that I used during the construction od Tui.

Awesome sail to Southport today despite the light conditions made it in 4.5 hours .

Even had a welcoming committee in the form of Maritime Border Control, first Question was where is your border crossing pass, Well would you believe it’s back in the Ute in Tweed Heads. ha ha .

These are the blocks. They need new sheaves as these ball bearing ones have worn out. I will ask the WBS about the cost of a replacement sheave.

I reckon you're close - perhaps a Nevins 40, which was pretty much a very slightly stretched Finnisterre. I believe that Carleton Mitchell specified to S&S that no one could actually clone Finisterre herself.

There were one or two Finnisterre types in Oz, at least; Diomede from Victoria and one built and owned by the Swarbricks in WA, although they could be the same boat.

The centreboard in the pic is pretty much like the one in Sunstone, the later S&S centreboarder, rather than that of the Nevins 40 so she may be one of the Australian-built boats rather than an imported Nevins.

Hi, Just received a email from the AWBF, the committee has decided to cancel the festival scheduled for February 2021 due to the ongoing covid 19 pandemic. Although we are disappointed we agree with their decision. Maybe it will be possible to organize a coming together of minds for a series of regional wooden boat festivals in NSW.

The little wooden boat that washed up on the beach here a little while ago has been returned to the sea after a protracted effort to get it out of the sand. It has been dragged, half buried, dug out, re-buried, dug out, dragged again and finally anchored on her beam in the shallows at low tide, and now possibly still afloat on the tide.

If she has maintained her structural and water tight integrity I'll be quite surprised. There has been a photo taken of her not sunk. I wait in grim anticipation, with hope against hope that the brave thing survives.

Went to the docs today about my bronchitis and she sent me off for a Covid test, not I might add a pleasant experience. Now I have to isolate till I get the result. I did get the work done on Redwing though.
