Awesome boat. He'd built her himself and had a few adventures aboard her, but was selling her at the time. I would've given my right one for it, but was too skint. It sold quickly and I saw a post on FB from the new owner sailing her off to distant places (lucky bugger).
Welcome Scotty, I didn't get to have a look below but I shall make a point of it next visit...the owner is a nice bloke.

But winds around 30-40 knots. On duty Saturday, I reckon if we get a call out it will be a boat adrift from it's mooring.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Phil Y, I take your (very valid) points

I may still be some way from getting refocussed on my boating obsessions (still finishing off house/shed & setting up property), but I like to think 2019 is going to be the start of my golden halcyon days of maritime bliss.

Whole thing looks to be a bit of a fizzer for us now. Cyclone's staying away and the big low for NZ doesn't seem to be forming. Good!

I have a ladder on the transom but have been worried about the boat disappearing off towards the horizon if i went overboard while motoring so i devised a strategy to increase my chances of getting back on board. The kill switch for the motor is conveniently located so I can tie a sturdy length of twine and loop it 3 or 4 times around the hand hold on the cabin arch for friction, then tie it to 10 meters rope i drag out the back of the boat and there is an added length of thinner rope trailing. To prevent the weight of towing a person from destroying the kill switch mechanism i have a take up rope fitted to allow the toggle to be pulled out the required length to shut down the motor.

I got some from aquinian, a member here. He bought in bulk from somewhere. There's caravan supply places. And bizzarely some dental supply place in Adelaide. It's mentioned on a thread somewhere. Sorry. Bit vague.

Just amazing to see the nonchalant boating community in the Tweed with wind gusts in the mid 35 kn range I did not meet any boat owners checking on boats. WB is moored securely at the pump out jetty which while not the most protected does have the highest pylons in the Tweed.
Tied up next to me are long term experienced cruisers who know what it feels like to have another vessel hit them in a storm and find themselves high and dry on the beach with a badly damaged vessel.

Wind has dropped to around 25 kn with some higher gusts, which is a relief as our youngest is just flying in from Sydney.

Wave heights to 12 m of the Sunshine Coast ,with the winds picking up during the night as Oma moves closer to the
    Goldie.

Good evening EBS with Duncan, Kerry and Gary at the arts Precinct in Murwillimbah. Italian and good.
Had lunch with Carol, Peter and 'the tongue'. Cool breezes on his verandah courtesy of the cyclone.

It's an amazing place they live, top of a 50 degree slope down about 200 meters through impenetrable bush to a creek. View across the narrow valley to big slab rock faces and more bush. The growth is prodigious with heat and water in abundance. However for this part of the world they are well down on rainfall this year.

Check out Bunnings for butyl tape. It is listed on their site. Or another builders merchant.
Money may not buy happiness, but it can buy a boat that will pull right up next to it!
