Nice one Rick - must feel great to have it done and dusted.

I had a marine diesel mechanic look at mine this morning.
Straight up, the injector pump is shot. He believes the injectors are also in need of replacing and says the compression in the cylinders is poor.

His estimate is i could have it rebuilt but given the over all age and condition it still won't live much longer.
A re-power is the only option that makes sense economically.

    I'm kind of relieved really.
Its never been a trustworthy engine and now i have about the best excuse i could have to swap it out.
It's only a matter of money now..........

That's good really - a myriad of problems filters down to just one! It's hard to spend that much but you'll be glad. It's horrible waiting for the next thing to go bung!

I was actually wondering if there were any boats on the ferry on their way to the Festival. There were when we went on the ferry at about this time, maybe a bit later, a couple of years ago.

A couple of glass trailer sailers In front of us. One quite pretty, but nothing wooden that I saw.

I think I paid around $35 for Navionics for all of Aus and NZ charts and iphone app. That was a year ago and they've renamed the app so that might be a stale price.

I have Navionics but the detail in this one seems more extensive..

Soundings in the Tweed River extend much further up the river.

    Balia is very nice.

Imagine doing the sort of work you're doing on Balia, to a steel boat. Horrible!

I speak the truth for I can see both into the future and the past, yet no one will believe me, this is my curse.
Also most of the time I don't remember what it was anyways.
    Dang it.

It's over 30 in new ziland, but has the nz humidity with it. Thinking of intravenous beer.

Pretty much how it's been here too for most of this summer - not fun! But 45+ is on a whole different level. I've experienced it only a very few times and don't want to again! It's never been that hot here - 40+ is rare here, but we do have the humidity.

I broke my leg during the hottest week in Hanoi they'd had for 100 years so that wasn't much fun trying to get around but, apart from the flood of sweat, it was nevertheless bearable, just. 45+ anywhere is just unbearable. Bruce has my sympathy!

My sister is not far from Bruce, she sent me a pic of the temperature according to their car - a good solid 50.0C
I suggested she should be praying that the power stays on, so they can at least still enjoy a cold beer. She and her partner have been camping out in their lounge, as it has the biggest kickass air con in the house.

I can only imagine, I thought Fiji was hot but it's been worse here today.
    45+? Sounds debilitating.
I suppose a mental picture of the guy with no aircon standing with his head in the refrigerator might cheer a few people up.

That's where most of them started, in Minnows.
I does get interesting and a bit sad when one of them, in search of more speed, bought a Cat that was too big and too powerful for him to handle solo, especially when he does not like going out on trapeze. He wanted me to crew, but I told him he does not need a trapeze hand that's close to twice his age.

What sort of cats do they sail? Our local club seems to have mainly Taipans. The locals do very well at State and Nationals - I'm not sure how big the Taipan class is but they're nice boats and very fast.

Yes, Navionics on an iPhone, tracking a course with no preset route selected and no specific tracking data configured.
