This time Ive borrowed a mates drywall sander. It has a vacuum attachment so very little dust. Its just hard on the arms if you dont do it on a regular basis. But walls and ceilings on a 5m by 5m room, done in about an hour and a half. do it twice, then paint.

The expression mad as a hatter comes from the fact that they used mercury in part of the hat making process.

A friend and I once did an office remodeling job for a firm of geologists, we had to sheet one room, floor to ceiling with flat Colourbond and it had to be glued onto the gyprock, no fastenings. We used about 4 litres of contact adhesive and by the time we finished we were as high as a kite !

No, I'm sure the VOCs from that don't cause brain cancers, really, I think.

Mad as a Colourbond bonder doesn't have the same ring to it but it does have rhythm.

    Timber from Tasmania
We have an opportunity to buy a substantial quantity of timber from Tasmania and have it delivered to Port Stephens or anywhere on the east coast south of here. Available is celery top pine, blackwood, sassafras and myrtle, and possibly some other species. if it can go ahead, it'll be early next year. We can buy up to 12m3. I don't know the cost yet but it will be good. If there is enough interest, I'll arrange it etc. but all money will be paid to the guy who'll bring it up from Tas, not me. I do intend to travel to Tas to check, select etc. so anyone interested in participating in that is welcome. I know I want a whole lot of blackwood and probably myrtle. The contact is Neil who Bruce met at Wilsons Prom last year. Seems a great guy to me.

If you're interested, let me know by pm or email.

Like the lines of the put-put. A good price too.

A friend of mine just out of Sydney towards the mountains has been trying to find a welder/engineering works to build a flight of steps for her back verandah. She's not having any luck.

Anyone heard from Shamus? I was just cleaning out some old PMs and whilst doing it, checked his profile. Hasn't been active for five days shy of a year.

So close too.... i'd need two things 1) a towbar and 2) approval from janette for a 3rd boat.....

Cracked water jacket is an issue... that's the effect of salt on the cast iron.

I'd love to have her... but circumstances aren't right. I'm divesting, not acquiring.

I'm on the boat. Here's the boat next to mine. Almost new engines. Big twin outboards that used to be worth $55,000 or so.

I've heard of mooring minders, but that
    's ridiculous...

So how'd that happen? Boats don't generally fall over by themselves.

BTW, re the Blaxland with a cracked water jacket. The one I picked up a year or two ago has the same problem and I haven't enquired about a possible fix yet.
I haven't got anything to put it in of course.

Apparently it has two bilge pumps, which the owner says are automatic, but one of the locals I know, who has saved it a couple of times, says aren't automatic. I reckon the owner might agree now. It went over just on dark last night. He didn't show up today.

There was a bit of oil on the water in Dusthole Bay. Not sure if it came from the cat... but I reckon he'll be in the sights.

I went down to see if I could deal with the two leaks in Grantala.... and managed to slow them. It's pumping 20 seconds every 15 minutes - with a small pump. Bugger all really, but I'd like to stop it totally. Next trip maybe? One pump was out, because of some corrosion on a fuse. That's why I've got two separate pumps installed in her.
