We're just getting our timings sorted for the trip, hopefully 10-11 July at Lemon Tree passage and I hope that fits in with available accommodation and Rick's schedule. Kingscliff on the evening of the 13th for a week. I'm looking forward to seeing Looe and Gary's keel.

Thanks for the offer. On the way back I reckon purri, normally we try to give 'sinny' a wide berth! I'll have a talk to Anne and see how the time goes.

Looks like Mandurah escaped the worst of it. The block with the main shopping centre is in the dark, including all the fast food joints except, and gotta hand it to them, Maccas. They must have their own power supply, clever buggers. There was a queue of cars wrapping around the block to their drive-thru last night too - that would be all the folks without power at home.

Jeff I'm going to be away from the 13th-16th. Weather permitting I'm going sailing on Moreton Bay as part of my birthday. Can we still catch up after that? If not I'll see if I can change my plans a bit.

We are there till the thursday night, the 19th I think. If we want the weekend we'll have to find a place while we are up there. That probably allows time anyhow.

That gives a few days, I can take a day off whatever work I'm doing. Getting this keel on is taking longer than I thought it would.

Unless Jeff's got enough room in the boot, yes. Yep, I'll be coming up sometime in July to get the timber so if it suits y'all, that could be around when Jeff's heading up there.

Well between Gary, Tony and myself (anyone else over here?) we should be able to form a consultative committee, devise a strategic improvement plan for the item to reform it to it's desired state, source suitable funding and grant opportunities, lobby for a few 457 visa employees to do the heavy lifting in the absence of suitably qualified local personnel, implement a forward planning agenda to ensure that we can carry funding into the next financial year and therefore support a more long term employment strategy and, by the end of the 2012-13 financial year, expect to achieve an acceptable outcome.........ie not make it any worse than it is.

But we'll probably also have to gain grant and 457 visa extensions with the next front due here in about 4 to 5 hours.

you lost me on the seat..

I take back what I said about Mandurah missing the worst of it. Sure there's little damage around downtown and downtown marina's, but Dawesville (a Mandurah suburb) is really bad. A marina pontoon broke loose and 40 boats are in various stages of wreckage. I've met the bloke who lives on the wooden boat on that pontoon too. And I think Stewart, another bloke we know who was proud of his newly bought 22' spacesailer was attached to it too..
So much for a marina being a safe haven.

My brothers answering machine is working so I will assume his house is still there. The BOM are predicting winds of Cat 2 Cyclone strength hitting this arvo is that still the case Gary?

I reckon you could get that chair back upright with that plan for as little $120,000.

Two people have been winched to safety after their yacht hit rough seas off the Gold Coast this morning.
Emergency Management Queensland says a man in his seventies and a woman in her thirties were on board.
A rescue helicopter was sent to help the pair after their yacht lost its mast off Coolangatta around 3:00am and began taking on water

I wouldn't doubt it considering it cost $80,000 to cut down one tree in Bellingen,

Mine just fall over by themselves, volunteering for the wood pile. Maybe it needed an 'accidental' nudge from a passing excavator one dark night. I presume it was 'community consultation' but maybe H&S gone mad?

That's a bargain! It cost Newcastle ratepayers over $2m to get several fig trees in Newcastle removed. Google Laman St figs for the whole sorry saga.

Hope that weather in the West isn't tooooo bad this time.

And I can't get my ute under cover, the garage for this unit is about 2 feet too short and I reckon if I poke the bow in and leave the door half down on the tray the wind might rip the door off and I'd be up for the cost of that..........

....and I see that what's left of the half demolished carport that took most of the unit block roof out on Sunday is still laying in the owners yard over the back ready to rejoin it's departed half in our unit block........a couple of guys were there cleaning up other gear but they didn't look like they were doing much about securing the carport remains........fingers crossed that it doesn't take off, wreck the rest of the roof and land on the ute after it's been peppered with hail.

I like both of them. I've almost owned a Seabird Yawl twice, one with an extended spoon stern and the mizzen aft of the rudder once used as a pearling lugger and built in 1922. She looks reasonable and definitely priced to sell! $300 would probably clinch it. Not so keen on putput's but that one is a beauty.

Not particularly enamored of the Seabird but they are a proven design and the price would be right for someone.

Have you ever wondered about peoples names and their occupations?

The Fire and Emergency Services Authority's Allen Gale says the storm should hit Perth later tonight and wreak havoc through the night.
