Bruce, the boat has been in the club since new, the original owner builder passed away a few years ago, so the boat was subject to several tears of neglect. It's been fixed up within the last year. I'm not sure of the real condition of this boat, I would be having a very careful look at this boat, reasonably easy to slip the boat here at the club. Sorry I haven't responded earlier, most of my comments aren't responded to (some of them I think are worthy of comment) so I don't check some threads very often. I can meet you at the club tomorrow morning to let you in but chances are someone will turn and you could get in then, just say you are there to look at the boat. Will PM you my phone number.

Heavy rain here at Tweed today. A little red coloured cell sat over us for about an hour or so. We taking PD30 up to Coomera tomorrow to have new 300hp outboards fitted. 90% chance of rain, 15-20 knots wind and a 1.5-2 metre swell. Should be a good run.

No, old bronze ones that mount horizontally. There were two in the bridgedeck once but they were replaced by a single, bulkhead mounted one long ago. But one of the old ones came with the boat.

The fluid in the old compasses is regarded as hazardous as it picks up radiation from the glow-in-the-dark markings, over time. So don't drink it if you feel like getting lit up.

I never liked sharpies very much, a good round bilge hull would run more easily. I think they were mainly built that way 'cos it's fast and cheap.

Not wooden, but out of interest I inspected this flybridge cruiser (glass) last week for a couple who are interested in buying it as a live-aboard/cruiser. The owner supposedly was after about $120k when he was advertising it and knocked back offers of around $80k. But now he’s desperate to sell it because he’s gone west and the marina is costing him so he’s put it to auction.

The boat is in quite sound condition, good engines, electrics, equipment and genny and really (as far as I could see) only cosmetic work to be done inside and out to cabin veneer panelling, teak deck, trim etc and in desperate need of a clean and antifouling (couldn’t otherwise check the hull, prop and rudder without it out of the water). Some possible work needed where the top of the fuel tanks was starting to look messy, but otherwise a nice solid and honest boat.

The couple were quite sure that they’d pick it up for about $40k and I told them that I doubted that very much and that it’d be at the very least $60k depending on interest and probably more likely end up around the $80k mark.....anyway they disagreed so I’ve been keeping an eye on the bidding:

It looks pretty good Andrew and I love blackwood. I might buy it myself if I were closer, but I don't really need it. I have sufficient red cedar for a fit out and it's lighter than blackwood too.

Not really but sort of. A friend bought it and the plan was that we'd all contribute to its restoration. But none of us had time so it sat in a shed. But then another friends with bags of money came along and has paid a shipwright to sheathe the hull and rebuild everything else, which he's now done. Launch is imminent and will be reported here. It's not a trawler but, rather, a snapper boat. Looking nice now.

I saw a smaller, fairly awful old Savage go for about $30K recently. I think I'd have thought this one would be a lot more than 40K too, unless the engines were RS. Looks like your estimate's pretty close as it's currently at 60K+. I find it very difficult to guess what boats might sell for.
