Stay safe youse guys. Look what got left at my place today! It's the next stage of my new deck. How do you measure smallish amounts of epoxy out if a 20 litre container? I suppose I'll transfer some into smaller bottles. Any other ideas?.

I will be getting prepared planning to move WB to the jetty.
The current track indicates the navigable semi circle south of the Goldie ,if Oma tracks as predicted that will mean maximum winds for us.
I'll be up there on the weekend and I have everything tied down...fingers Xed.

    Neither do I.
The motel we suggested is well above flood level and the is a small corner store nearby.

Other than possibly being a 16-foot skiff (it is apparently 16 feet long) and gunter-rigged, what might this boat be?

One of our brigade members knows the owner (who wants to sell it), and knowing nothing about boats himself, thought that he would ask me.

It's not a class that I recognise (if in fact it does belong to one), but that doesn't mean much.

It seems to sit rather oddly in the water, to my eye - perhaps the sailor should be sitting forward more.

    Any ideas, anyone?

    Cheers,
    Alex.

Yes. Through ebay actually, their price on ebay is slightly less than on their website.

    Hello Phil,

Is there a threaded (blanked-off!) hole for a tap at the bottom of the container? Containers like that usually have one. Harwdware stores would probably have screw-in taps for it.

Ahh clever. I thought not, but its hiding around the back. I have some taps for 20 litre containers somewhere.

    Mirror rig?
    But it's not a Mirror 14 or 16 hull.

    Flat bottom?

    You need this sort: https://www.greatescapecamping.com.a...m-tap-in-a-cap

Edit: Then I read the rest of the replies. :-) I was going to ask about a tap hole but figured you'd already looked. :-)

It would look like a Goat Island Skiff if it didn't have so much sweep in the sheer.

Probably a one-off (because it looks like it didn't really work out)

Looks like a Mirror rig. As far as I can tell, it has a flat bottom with quite a bit of rocker. The bow looks quite weird, too.

It’s not a Goat Island Skiff.

I was starting to think along the one-off lines too. It has none of the gracefulness of the GIS. It just looks weird.

Exactly. I was only suggesting it could be a botched Goat Island Skiff. :-)

It needs a couple more adults aboard to get the stem into the water.

    Like this?

    boat3.jpg

    Doesn't quite make it.

Perhaps whoever built it thought that they could 'improve' on the Goat Island Skiff design and really got stuck into that sheer, put a foredeck on it, and a breakwater, and...

Presumably it has a centreboard, can't see the case though.

What it really looks like is that someone scaled up a toy boat to ‘full size’.
