Flaming heck. That's quick. I wondered what you were up to today. I went to your place and winterised the bees. You weren't home.

2 layers of ply, a 12 and a 9, glued and screwed. Cutouts for cockpit drains, water filler and steering. And a new back of the cockpit too. A fairly full on day. I seem to have temporarily misplaced one of the bronze cockpit drains which is a trifle annoying. Big search tomorrow, then put the steering back together and put some glass on the floor.

I don't know if going on 6 months to replace a deck is all that speedy, but we are certainly getting there. If I can find that missing cockpit drain she'll actually keep the rain out soon. Raining on Saturday afternoon so fingers crossed.

Raining here today, that kind of drizzly windless grey day rain that is good for nothing much. Happily the main jobs I am working on at the moment are all below deck. Finally completing Blow Fish's lightning protection system which wasn't connected to the keel bolts yet.

So I discovered that the holes for the drains in the top bit of ply didn't quite line up with the holes in the bottom bit. A few mm is all. Finally found a use for that trimmer thing. It's a bit wild freehand without even the baseplate, but that's how we had to go because of the proximity to the corners. All done now, cockpit floor is glassed. When that's dried I can fillet the corners, fit the drains, round off and glass the edges of the seats and generally continue. Bugger, I just remembered I forgot to set a couple bolts into the cockpit floor, to attach a bearing which supports the horizontal steering shaft below the cockpit floor. I was going to set them flush, epoxy the heads in, then glass over. I can still do that, but it's annoying to have forgotten. I think the bolts sit under the base of the pedestal anyway, so the patches will not be visible. Lovely day by the way.

You'll be sailing in no time. Great photos! The 'trimmer thing' sounds a bit hit and miss. Could a rats tail rasp been an option? Seems I lied about the wind earlier, it is blowing good. Garden island, approximately where I am, had a gust of 39 knots. A bloke was rowing in from his mooring just now, barely making headway. Quite cosy in Blow Fish getting various jobs sorted.

Haven't got a rasp. The trimmer thing did fine except where it started chattering and bounced around inside the hole until it turned itself off. That was exciting. But other than that it did a great job.

Not start work on it. Just start it. I can't remember when I last fired it up. The electrics are all appalling and I'd only make it worse if I did anything with it, so I have no plans to.

I remember a Dutch sailor showing me the wiring behind his switch panel. It was a colour coded work of pure geometry.

The switch panel and wiring I pulled out of Pixie when I cut up the cabin was beautiful. It was a shame to take it out.

That's the Dutch for you. I'm a mishmash of Yorkshire, Ireland and New Zealand. You can imagine what my wiring would look like.

Just in time for a real test. The BoM has upped the rain forecast for tomorrow to a 90% chance of rain up to possibly 20mm. We haven't had anything like this for so long.

No. They've never been crossed and are so far above the water they don't need to be.
